Ccleaner does not clean Google Chrome history

WINDOWS 7, latest version of Ccleaner and latest version of Google Chrome.

OK here is the problem, I know discussed before but this keeps coming back, and I can reproduce this at any time.

1) I run CCLEANER, it closes Google Chrome in the process, I see the files that are deleted (so you think) in the CCLEANER window.

2) I run CCLEANER a 2nd and 3rd time, he does not find anything to be deleted, system is clear (so you think)

3) I checked Taskmanager, no Google Chrome processes active.

4) I run CCLEANER a fourth time, just to be sure, nothing!

5) I start GOOGLE CHROME and go to history (CTRL+H) and voila >>> the History is still there!!

6) Only way to clean GOOGLE CHROME history is to press "clear browsing history",

This is a serious issue and keeps coming back. I have seen this discussed before several times but is there a solution for this bug?

Thanks for support in advance.

Turn off Google's sync, everytime you open google it's redownloading your history.

It's in the sticky on this board, by the way

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Hello,

I just use Google Chrome - I don't use any of their services so I don't sign in to services like: Gmail, YouTube, etc! However I have the same issue as above. This started happening with the latest release of CCleaner FREE and Pro and Google Chrome.

Hopefully there will be a fix to this issue soon.

Thanks.

The development team has confirmed there is a bug and is currently looking into it.

Please fix this thanks!  :)

neither does v.5.04.5151

in fact, in think chrome keeps changing their data folder?

because i know this worked, i cleaned my pc many times, but this time when i fire up chrome, all the history is back, and i didn't even upgrade ccleaner

so either something broke on it's own or chrome keeps changing their paths?

I tried both the solutions offered in this moderator reply...

...but they don't work. The Chrome history remains after CCleaner claims it has erased it.

I am not "signed in" to Google, either.

The ccleaner developers are aware that Chrome history isn't being cleaned and are working on a fix

I think you are right @hotrod.

But in a nutshell, I think Chrome's is due to Google moving things around a 'breaking' CC if you like.

Whereas, Edge, in my opinion, may be due to it (and Win10) not only being new but getting continual updates and MS moving the goal post, making CC play catchup.

Backup now & backup often.
It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.
Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
