Willy2
I came across a bug in CC v3.19. It's NOT a fatal error. Click on "tools", "startup". When I have changed the language from e.g. english to dutch then two words don't get translated. It remains in english. I need to close and restart CC to get the text on the tab called "Task Scheduler" translated/replaced with the proper dutch text "Geplande Taken". However, there's another way to get the text "task scheduler" (see above) translated into the new selected language. Click on "System Restore"", "Uninstall" or "Drive Wiper" and then on "Start up" again. Then the text on the tab "Task Scheduler" does get translated. Willy2
Does anyone know whether the tab with the text "Internet Explorer" shows up (under "Tools") when an user has Firefox, Safari, ..... etc. installed ? Perhaps then that tab is called "Firefox, Safari, ...... etc." ?? Or are then only two tabs displayed ?? This could (!!!) point to the section of the CC program code where CC goes ""off the rails"". Moderators Nergal Posted June 18, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 18, 2012 I don't believe the tools section covers anything except BHO for Internet explorer, not add-ons for the other browsers. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Super Fast
Nergal is correct. BHO problems are IE only. This is the reason there are no other browsers listed. It isn't needed for any of the others.
Guest MrT
Thanks, we'll look into the language switch issue.
Willy2
CC v3.26: Click on "Tools", "Startup". In the tabs "Task Scheduler" and "Context Menu" the words in the column "Keys" don't get translated when I change the language from e.g. english to dutch or french. Even restarting CC don't get that text/those strings translated. And this - of course - shows up as well, when the user tells CC to export that info to a text file. Willy2
Topic: System Restore Points (SRP) Thumbs up for CC v4.08 !!! When I select a SRP and hit the "Delete" button on my keyboard then the button "Remove" is greyed out/blocked BEFORE CC removes any SRP(s) (info). This is the way I like it and the way it should be. And this was missing in previous versions. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Willy2
Another thing that can be improved in the next version: CC v4.08 can show, besides the user defined Tasks in Task Scheduler (TS), also the MS defined Tasks in TS. These show up when I tick the box "Advanced Options" on the right hand side of the screen. Thumbs up for CC !!!! But this box should be moved from the right hand side of the pane/screen to the bottom of the pane/screen. That way, the entire text belonging to that box/describing the funtion of that box does show up on the screen in its full length. Willy2
1. Came across another bug in CC v4.13 (Free). Start CC, select "Tools, Startup, Windows". A list of items that are run upon startup show up. Select the last option of the list. Then you'll notice that the buttons "Delete, Enable, disable" remain greyed out. 2. And this bug in CC http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=34072 hasn't been fixed either in v4.13. Moderators mta Posted May 13, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 13, 2014 can't replicate on my system (CC v4.13.4693, Win8.1u1 64bit) selecting last entry, which is already enabled, shows Enabled greyed out and the other two black and clickable. if I double click the last entry to disable it, Enable goes black, Disable goes grey and Delete stays black. Willy2
Did some more research. On my system (win 7 Ultimate) the bug does occur. But it only happens the first time after a startup of CC. The second time I select the line all is well. Odd. See pictures. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Willy2
The bug - as reported in the previous post - hasn't been fixed in CC v4.17. I selected "Tools", "Startup", "Windows" and selected/highlighted one line. CC still refuses to activate the 3 buttons on the top right hand side of the screen. Those 3 buttons remain greyed out. Only when I select one other line and then return to the previous selected line then CC only greys out one button (as it should). Moderators Andavari Posted September 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 24, 2014 I can't replicate it on this old XP system of mine on any of the tabs available, it works correctly for me.
Willy2
(I am on a dutch Win 7 Pro system). Odd. Very odd. Even weird. And I am NOT making this up !!!!!!!! Perhaps some value gets written to one *.ini file, or a value written in the registry ? And then reset to its Original value after closing CC ? Because it only happens the first time I use CC. When I use it for the second time it never happens any more. See the pictures in reply #11. It's also not language dependent because it occurs in the english & dutch language version(s). Perhaps restarting your XP machine will let this odd thing occur (again) ? On what (system) variables is this feature (greying out of the buttons) dependent ? Perhaps some other program on my Win 7 system interferes with the greying out ? Moderators mta Posted September 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2014 to remove the Registry from the possible list of culprits, have you tried running the portable version? Willy2
Excellent idea. Update1: No, running the portable version doesn't change a thing. Even restarting CC doesn't help. It only occurs when I restart my laptop. Update2: When I click on the "Context" or "Task Scheduler" tab first then this behaviour doesn't happen. Update 3: I use IE 11. Would that make a difference for the program code ? Somehow CC detects something (registry setting, internal variable, ...... ) that prevents it from activating the buttons in the proper state. Need to do A LOT OF research more. It's going to take some time to see where the program goes "off the rails". (I know, it's NOT a matter of "Make or Break"). Moderators mta Posted September 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 25, 2014 oh, well, worth a shot! based on mine and @Andavari's posts where it doesn't happen for us, and the lack of another post with this problem, it does suggest some sort of 'setup' unique to your PC. as to your IE11 thought, I have that as well on my PC (although I don't use it) but who knows what system API's CC may call into use. So it's worth a shot to uninstall that and then Windows will automatically put back to IE10 for you on the next reboot. another straw to clutch may be to try running CC from Safe Mode to see if perhaps CC itself is OK and it's not some other background task causing your grief. but, yeah, sounds like it's needle-in-a-haystack time. Willy2
Problem solved !!! Should have thought of running CC in Safe Mode before. I ran CC in Safe Mode and this odd behaviour didn't occur. In that regard, it's not a bug in CC. So, some other program interferes with CC but which ?? I know now, I can't blame CC for this behaviour. (Yes, using Safe Mode is very useful. It has helped me more than once to solve problems.) Moderators Andavari Posted September 27, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 27, 2014 Hard to tell what's causing it in normal mode, something like a driver or some other resident software.
Willy2
I'll continue to search what program causes this behaviour but it's not a pressing issue any more. Willy2
Topic: Odd "Clean Recycle bin" behaviour. Yesterday I moved some 6 GB of data/files to the recycle bin of my USB harddrive. Today I used CC to clean the recycle bin. The odd thing is that CC didn't detect that 6 GB of files on my USB drive when it analyzed my system today (of course, with the USB drive attached). But when I put CC to work to actually clean the Recycle Bin then CC also detected that there was a Recycle Bin on my USB drive. and yes then CC took some time to empty that Recycle Bin on my USB drive. Is this behaviour (not detecting the recycle bin on my USB drive when analyzing) normal ? Does it matter that I have a USB 3.0 harddrive ? The drive is supposed to be USB 2.0 compatible. Willy2
Topic: "Clean Recycle Bin" behaviour. Odd. I ran CC v4.18 again but this behaviour (see previous post) didn't show up any more. Did I overlook something ? Don't know. But it doesn't matter anymore. Because I downloaded & installed CC v4.19 and it correctly showed/recognized the files & the size of the files in the Recycle Bin. It also recognized that those files were on the USB harddrive. And the files were deleted by CC. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Willy2
Bug in CC v5.00 Beta. Topic: Task Bar & the place of the CC GUI. When I want to maximize CC, the program makes a mistake. It recognizes the fact that I have the Task bar placed on the left hand side of the screen on my (freshly installed earlier this evening) Win 7 Pro system (Some programs don't recognize the task bar being on the left hand side of the screen at all or not always. Thumbs up for CC). But it miscalculates where it should place the GUI. Let's assume the task bar has a width of 4 cm then CC assumes the task bar has a width of double that amount and places the left hand edge of the CC GUI 8 cm from the left hand edge of the (visible) screen. And then the entire CC GUI shifts to the right by the same amount. The result is that not the entire CC GUI is visible on my screen. A similar thing happens when I place the Task bar at the top of the screen. But when the task bar is at the bottom of the screen or at the right hand side of the screen then this odd behaviour doesn't occur. And this odd behaviour also doesn't show up when CC is not maximized. Willy2
- Came already across 2 (small) translations errors in CC v5.00 Beta. Program code being "a bit buggy" or a fault of the translator ? Need to see where & when those errors occur and that takes some more time. Willy2
I need to add to reply #23 of this thread that previous versions of CC (e.g. CC v4.19) do correctly recognize that I placed the Task Bar on the left hand side of the screen. So, in that regard, CC v5.00 Beta "went off the rails". This certainly is a new bug.
