hello,

is it worth to add rules to clean Dropit logs and backups ?

I see this is created in : c:\Documents and Settings\Eigenaar\Application Data\DropIt\

 

Thanks to consider.

I've sent word to Lupo (the creator of Dropit) on this so he may chime in

I'd like to see this added. It deletes the download cache for Windows Update. Should also work in XP.

You might hear, or heard, a lot of false information but that folder is completely safe to empty. It doesn't clear itself after installing updates.

I have problem after removing files from that location on Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit systems. I was not able to turn On or Off some of the Windows features. For example: I was not able to turn Off Internet Explorer 9, Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player.

I agree with redxii. I have been emptying the %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder for 9-10 years....xp, vista, and now Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) with no problems ever encountered. However, I have not attempted to disable IE9, WMC nor WMP. :mellow:

software distribution folder has been discussed before, honestly if you use it without issue bully for you, but it is not going to be added to a public feed nor to the program itself. It is not rumor that it breaks things it is fact & laid out so by Microsoft.

 

 

it should not be cleaned, but as an individual, do as you please.

Why are you detecting what you are deleting. This seems unclean

you need to detect a file or entry that will stay in existence not what you are cleaning
