As a neophyte Chrome user, I am wondering why FileKey1 should not be changed to FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome*\User Data\*\File System|*.*|RECURSE to clean out this entire folder.  From what I read via a "Chrome HTML5 Storage" search, it appears safe/proper to fully clean out this "File System" folder.

I yield to users who have Chrome experience and knowledge.

prefer FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome*\User Data\*\File System\*|*.*|REMOVESELF

so that you won't have many empty folder inside File System eventhough it will be use again by chrome

all folder will be recreated again starting with Origin and 000 folder

I recommend that this cleaning module be removed from Winapp2.ini.  MS Edge is in development and this module cleans too much.  For example, it removes all imported favorites/bookmarks. Who knows what it may improperly clean as Microsoft incorporates enhancements/features into Edge.

Hi Guys,

I'd like to get some help from a winapp2.ini file expert. I'm having sort of a weird problem on my Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit) PC.

It all started after I upgraded my winapp2.ini file to the latest version with [Voldemort], an extremely annoying bug started to happen every time I run CCleaner:

I have several icons (shortcuts) pinned to my Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar ( full path to these shortcuts is %AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar ) and one of my shortcuts there have a property set under its Compatibility tab: Privilege Level: "Run this program as an administrator" is checked, simply because I always want to run that particular program as Administrator.

Since I upgraded CCleaner and winapp2.ini to the latest version about a week ago, I started noticing that every time I run CCleaner, the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox gets unchecked in this shortcut!!

This is totally unacceptable, because if I run this program as non-administrator then it has limited capability, basically the program becomes completely useless. I use this pinned shortcut every day and I also use CCleaner every day, but this bug makes my life miserable...

I narrowed the problem down to the winapp2.ini file, because if I do not use it then the problem does not happen when I run CCleaner. However, I would prefer to continue using the winapp2.ini rules in general.

Trying to solve this, so far I unchecked the following items under CCleaner / Applications: QuickLaunch DiagnosedApplications, QuickLaunch ImplicitAppShortcuts, QuickLaunch and Recent Items More but disabling these options did not help. :(

Can someone please tell me which winapp2.ini rule do I need to disable in order to prevent this problem from happening?

Also, I do not understand why CCleaner with winapp2.ini is changing a property of one of my shortcuts which is a pinned shortcut. CCleaner should leave these pinned shortcuts alone, IMO. Again, CCleaner is not removing that shortcut, it is just changing an important property of it.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks,

Zoltan

P.S.: I use the latest CCleaner and [voldemort] ( latest winapp2.ini file ) as of today ( 11/25/2015 )

@tss enhancing software is not discussed here, please be sure to use proper piriform etiquette and in the future refer to [voldemort] by its proper name Voldemort. I've edited your post to cover up its name that will not be named ;)

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

A quick question I have, whats the difference if any, between downloading winapp2 file and running the .bat file to trim it manually vs using [Voldemort]?

I gave [Voldemort] a try for the first time yesterday and it produced a winapp2.ini 54KB's in size vs the one I trim manually with the .bat file that was 71KB's in size. From what I could tell at a glance while running CCleaner, everything was there.
