Moderators Nergal Posted September 9, 2008 Moderators Share Posted September 9, 2008 Running 2.11.636 today I noticed that Hotfix unistaller Was no longer listed in the Cleaner. Did I miss something in the Change Logs? where did it go? I know some n00bs had issues with it but I appreciated it. davey
Your right, it is gone. I thought in another thread it was determined that each update no longer has its own install/uninstall files? There used to be with the old WU client. Hey Dudes, Wassup ? WinXP Pro SP3 Hotfix Uninstallers is still there on Advanced cleaning list. Must be a Vista thing ? davey P.S. To be more specific it must be a CCleaner Vista version thing. Intentional ? Only the "Bug fixers" can tell us that. Edited September 10, 2008 by davey
Moderators Nergal Posted September 10, 2008 Author Moderators Share Posted September 10, 2008 Cool looks like it is a vista thing, i'll check my XP sp3 tomorrow but I trust davey on this. See that's what happens when only the first post of a thread comes through in rss. I wish piriform would stream all posts in a thread to my RSS I probably missed the part of the thread that said it wasn't uninstallable. Moderators Nergal Posted September 10, 2008 Author Moderators Share Posted September 10, 2008 So I just searched thru my Vista SP1 Software distribution and there are no more unistalls (this also explains why Hotfixes No longer appear in the Programs (formerly add/remove programs) CPL. So that's that, however it does seem to keep cabs from the update in the S.D. Folder, I'll keep an eye on these and if they start to crop up I'll put in a request for some one with a Vista VM or a vista that is not their main puter to test the removal of the cabs. Thanks Sp3 users for your aid in the finding the issue at hand. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Moderators Nergal Posted September 26, 2008 Author Moderators Share Posted September 26, 2008 Father? Are you saying that when you check it and run clean then go to the folder where the uninstallers should be (software distribution) the uninstallers are still there? or are you referring to them still being listed in add/remove? If the Later, the hotfix unistaller removal is a 2 step process 1)clean the crap (removes the actual uninstall files) 2)Run uninstall which then says "I can't uninstall this do you want to remove it from the list" to which you reply "yes." Moderators please lock this thread as it has been solved. The Hotfix Unistaller no longer appears in VISTA as there is no longer jetsam from hotfix installations IN VISTA ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
