simon1
Hi all, I have been using this program Update Checker for sometime and I have been very satisfied with it until recently. However the last few times I wanted to update my softwares this program wouldn't start and I had to reinstall it in order to run it, meaning that after reinstall it works fine, but if I want to run it again later it will not start at all. I was wondering if there is a solution to this, my laptop is functioning without any problems and I am only experiencing problem with this program. thanks in advance
Moderators DennisD Posted December 23, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 23, 2012 Hi simon. Are we talking about FileHippo's Update Checker here? http://www.filehippo.../updatechecker/ Two things ... Did you uninstall the non working version before you reinstalled? And have you tried the "standalone" version to see if that will run OK? There's no install, just an exe file you double click to run.
simon1
Hi Dennis, Thanks for the reply. Yes its the same Update checker as you mention from Filehippo. I have been using it for more than a year and it had been working well until now. No I didn't uninstall it, just downloaded a fresh copy and reinstalled it. I haven't tried the standalone version of this program, I'll try it and see who it works for me.
Moderators DennisD Posted December 24, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 24, 2012 You may have been trying to reinstall over a corrupted install. Sometimes that can fix things, but to make sure it's best to clear the old install out completely first.
simon1
I have now uninstalled it and report back the results on how it is performing.
