SirDAB
Long-time user.... MalwareBytes and BitDefender quarantined Piriform Trojans, Bitdefender detected Trojan.PRForm.A: "Bitdefender moved a threat to quarantine. File name: c:\windows\system32\tasks\ccleanerskipuac. It is recommended that you run a System Scan to make sure your system is clean." "Bitdefender moved a threat to quarantine. File name: c:\program files\ccleaner\ccleaner.exe. It is recommended that you run a System Scan to make sure your system is clean." MalwareBytes detected Trojan.Floxif.Trace I uninstalled 5.33 version, downloaded 5.35 from Builds page, however installer errors out. Piriform's troubleshooting installation guide's first image is the exact message I receive. I have Admin rights and I don't visibly see BitDefender blocking the 5.35 install. Not sure what to do, help appreciated.
Moderators Nergal Posted September 22, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 22, 2017 Download the portable version from piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Copy ccleaner.exe and ccleaner64 from the zip file to your installation path for ccleaner (usually c:\program files\ccleaner), this will require admin account a uac confirmation depending on your pc's uac setting. if it gets stuck trying to overwrite one of the files delete the file (again admin and/or uac) and tell the copy to retry ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. For some reason CCleaner.exe still remains in the default folder (as mentioned below). Even though I have admin rights, I can not delete that file nor folder. As a workaround, i created a new CCleaner directory\folder and proceeded to install 5.35 w/o issue.
