Win-10 "Skip User Account Control Warning" not active

Hello,

 

Just upgraded from Win-7 Ultimate to Win-10 Pro, and all went well.

 

In Win-10 Pro, on using both CCleaner free editioin 5.18 and 5.20, the Options - Advanced  checkbox for "Skip user account control warning" is grayed out, and on clicking it, a dialog  saying "The system can not find the file specified".

Consequently, every time a start CCleaner, the UAC dialog shows up, and clicking "Yes" runs CCleaner normally.

And yes I am the Administrator, and the UAC is set on level 3.

 

This never was an issue with Win-7 Ultimate, or on upgrading CCleaner to a later version over the past years.

 

Any known setting that could correct this, or registry edit to make the "skip user account control warning" active and functional?

 

Or is this a bug in Win-10?

Open windows task SCHEDULER there should be an on-demand ccleaner task, check that all the settings are correct, my guess is that it's pointing to an invalid location (but may also needed to be set to run as the wrong OS or a couple of other small inconsistencies)

Thanks for the rapid response. It helped significantly in locating the issue.

 

The "SkipUserUAC" entry you refer to is not in the Scheduled Tasks section in the Task Scheduler Library where it should be. However about a dozen or more automated tasks were migrated to a System32\Tasks_Migrated Folder with the Win-7 - Win-10 Pro Upgrade, rather than the proper System32\Tasks folder, where they should be and functional. Importing the task from another computer says it is already present. The Tasks_Migrated files aren't visible in the Task Scheduler Library, so they can't be exported, then imported back. Moving them to the Tasks Folder doesn't work, so I suspect they are ID'd by a GUID. Will try to work thru MS (I know good luck with that!) to have it resolved.

 

An alternative would be Uninstall CCleaner completely, including the registry items, delete the "SkipUserUAC" in the \Tasks_Migrated folder, and reinstall it, which would place that task anew in the correct Task Scheduler Library location. However, I do have a significant number of "Saved Cookies" I rather not delete and start all over with.

 

Do you know where the "saved cookies" are saved in CCleaner, that I could copy out that file, or reg entry, then place it move it back when the new installation in complete? Hopefully there is just a text file of .dat file containing them.

Hi Nergal,

 

I found the "saved cookies" registry entry and saved it, before completely uninstalling CCleaner 5.2, removing the leftover entries in the registry, and deleting the Tasks_Migrated "skipuserUAC" file. Then reinstalled CCleaner and copied the "saved cookies" back into the registry. Everything works great, including the "Skip User Acct Control Warning. Thanks.

 

To give a little back, I did make up a colorful CCleaner configuration settings form for anyone to use, checking off their configuration preferences, & to keep as a reference, in PDF form -  if that would be helpful to others. Not sure how to send it to you to review but did attach it.
