Moderators hazelnut Posted September 2, 2015 Moderators Share Posted September 2, 2015 You need this hotfix from Microsoft if you only have SP2 with XP http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=43027&p=260079 Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
trium
Please realize that hazelnut pointed to the hotfix from Microsoft, thus it's a (dead version of) Windows issue and not ccleaner mrt gives me indirectly right from hazelnuts link from older thread with xp sp2 issue: We have applied this patch to our testing machine and problem was fixed. No more BSOD after installing it. We are working on a solution to avoid this problem, but in the meantime, you might want to consider this hotfix... and this is directly from microsofts hotfix-description: However, this feature is intended to modify only the behavior that this article describes. Therefore, if the system is not severely affected by the lack of this feature, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this feature. it is a ccleaner problem, like the OP i have winXP with SP2. when i run ccleaner 5.03 i get BSOD. i went back to 5.02 with no issues. means there is a change in ccv503 that canceled the support for xp sp2...that is not in ccv502. be it intended or not. but you have right --> xp with sp2 is out of date and no longer supported for quite some time and sp3 too from microsoft. --> with this context its alright that piriform also no longer supported xp sp2 and makes no changes for this and support only for sp3.
