CCleaner consistently "sticks" at 24%

Since I downloaded the latest version, my cleaning gets stuck every time at 24%.  I read the what-seemed-to-be-related suggestions and changed from super secure file deletion to normal file deletion.  This made no difference.  I can click "Cancel" and stop the scan, at which point it says my cleaning is incomplete.  So I do not have the system getting stuck/having to reboot that some people have had happen.

I have used the CCleaner System Monitoring and turned it off; it makes no difference.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium and am using Microsoft Security Essentials anti-virus.  I also periodically run Spybot Search & Destroy and Malawarebytes scans.  I recently had some Trojans on my system but the antivirus cleaned them and now the scans are all clean.

Thanks anyone who can help.

did this problem occur with the previous version?

what is the version you have installed now?

at the 24% 'stuck' stage what is the progress bar reporting as the section it is currently cleaning?

does it get 'stuck' when ran from Safe Mode?

Backup now & backup often.

Hi. Same problem; mine stuck on "Registry files" or something like that; I have not checked on Safe Mode yet, but I will if necessary. I had the latest version free but due to that problem I installed the Pro version free trial, same problem though. Annoying.

Regards.

try Safe Mode.

confirm where it's getting stuck.

give your OS version and CC version.

also try the Slim or Portable builds (uninstall current version first, and reboot PC before installing new version).
