Moderators hazelnut Posted September 27, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 27, 2016 Firefox wears down your SSD drive According to the tech experts from ServeTheHome, a Firefox browser in its default configuration can write between 10GB and 30GB per day to SSD drives, depending on the number of opened tabs and windows. The main two reasons behind these heavy-duty SSD write operations are the recovery.js and cookie.* files.Firefox uses the first file to store session information used to recover after crashes, and the second files are created on a per-site basis to store cookie-related data.As the user browses the Internet, Firefox will update these files at regular intervals, generating a large amount of constant write operations. A tweak to prevent this is available in Firefox settings. http://news.softpedia.com/news/adjust-this-setting-before-firefox-wears-off-your-ssd-drive-508665.shtml Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

ROCKNROLL
Firefox wears down your SSD drive A tweak to prevent this is available in Firefox settings. http://news.softpedia.com/news/adjust-this-setting-before-firefox-wears-off-your-ssd-drive-508665.shtml Just to clarify, this isn't just specific to Firefox. It also applies to all of its sister projects, like Pale Moon, Waterfox, SeaMonkey, etc, as well as Chrome and all of its sister projects, too, probably including Chromium, too. Perhaps maybe it is a better idea to put this in a new thread to notify all of us SSD users. I am a maintainer for Winapp2. I also have a open-source group on Steam. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/opencommunity
