casey3512
Hi, I downloaded free ccleaner from this site and virus total shows there is a win32/bundled toolbar google d in this download and says is potentially unsafe on virustotal. I don't want anything downloaded with ccleaner. Is this a false positive, or is it bundled with ccleaner? Thanks.
Moderators Nergal Posted December 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 7, 2016 It's warning you of the bundled google toolbar. It's not a virus just a PUP (potentially unwanted program). If you scan the slim installer you'll see no bundled ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Moderators mta Posted December 7, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 7, 2016 as well as the Slim version stated by @Nergal, there is also the Portable version, both available here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds both do not include the bundled offering of Chrome or the Google Toolbar.
