Moderators Nergal Posted November 15, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Until such time that this is baked into CCleaner. How to Clear the Windows Store Cache in Windows 8 Information: This tutorial will show you how to clear the Windows Store cache in Windows 8. Note: This will not delete any of your installed apps. Here's How: 1. Press the Windows+R keys on your keyboard to open the Run dialog. 2. Type WSReset.exe, and click/tap on OK. 3. The Store will now open, and state the following: The cache for the store was cleared. You can now browse the store for apps http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13133-store-cache-clear-windows-8-a.html Unsure what it removes yet, however My Store access seems (marginally) faster in loading screens OK According to RegShot the following were removed %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\*.log %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows Store\Cache Medium IL\{0-8 folder}\*.dat (excluding \0\0-ProductTileByProductGuid-*.dat and emptying (deleting and recreating maybe) \1\1-StartService.dat ) %LocalAppData%\Packages\WinStore_{Maybe Private Key?}\AC\INetCache\{Make Empty Random Letter folders} %LocalAppData%\Packages\WinStore_{Maybe Private Key?}\AC\Microsoft\Windows Store\Cache\{0-8 folder}\*.dat (excluding Consumer and Name space keys (recreated?)) %LocalAppData%\Packages\WinStore_{Maybe Private Key?}\AC\Microsoft\Windows Store\Data\history.dat Modified %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows Store\Checkpoints\{MaybeprivateKey2}.ini Modified %localappdata\Packages\WinStore_cw5n1h2txyewy\AC\Temp\winstore.log My computer was busy while I did this so there may have been a bit more that I missed Edited November 15, 2012 by Nergal ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Moderators Nergal Posted November 15, 2012 Author Moderators Share Posted November 15, 2012 note I cannot yet confirm that those marked private key are indeed private strings and not the same across the board. Coffee Joe after the deletion did store complain at all? Are you still able to download free apps (I won't ask you to buy one, though am concerned for breaking that aspect via doing this) Winapp2 looks good except some of the excludes may be recreated (as their size is 0 and I don't know what they were for sure (testing just shows they've changed in regshot) @winapp2 you're running win8 correct? If yes then, so long as you keep it private, I'll send you a (mostly) unaltered regshot list via pm when I return to my pc ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Coffee4Joe
Store didn't have any complaints, no errors in the event log, none of my settings for the store changed. I was able to install and uninstall apps without any issues.

The Store will now open, and state the following: The cache for the store was cleared. You can now browse the store for apps " but I receive an error popup "ms-windows-store:purgecaches invalid value for registry" Recommendations? Winapp2.ini
Unsure. Try rebooting then clearing the store caches. Can you still open the store normally? If not, I'd say try manually deleting the files listed above (either with explorer or ccleaner) winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
