just to see if it helps, tell CC not to clean Chrome and see if it completes.

try cleaning Chrome from within Chrome as a one off, then try CC again.

is still no luck, run CC with the /debug switch and attach the output.

To the three "me too" posters please provide a debug report. Instructions are in a sticky topic at the top of the ccleaner's bug report board.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Here is the log file from running ccleaner in debug mode.

Try turning off firefox - compact databases, see if it still crashes.

Ok Nergal I did that and ccleaner worked just fine.  Under firefox, I unticked compact database and it worked like it always has.  I noticed that Chrome has that same feature also. I would imagine if you untick compact databases under chrome it will work just fine like mine did.

I've reported to the developers, that compact is causing crashes

Since the new version was installed, I am also having trouble. CCeaner is installing completely, but crashes when it is running the Clean. I've read thru the posts here and have tried everything except doing a Window 10 recovery to an earlier date.

UPDATE: I don't use Google Chrome, but I have it installed. When I turned off the Chrome CCclean, no changes... the program still crashed. Then, with Chrome off, I turned off Firefox. CClean finished the scan... ok.... then I started with Firefox and started rechecking ONE box ant a time instead of all under the Firefox tab.... CClean continued to run perfectly until I checked and ran with "Internet History"  or with "Internet Cache" checked. Then CClean failed until I turned off the "Internet History" or the "Internet Cache" checkbox(s)... hope that helps you guys.

Been using for a long time on XP. New version gets stuck at 25% while cleaning recycle bin and never finishes. Tried unchecking cache and history boxes on firefox, no difference. Tried uninstall and redownloaded, no change. I'm not a techie so I'm not going crazy to try and make this work. I like the product but if it doesn't work I'll try something else.

likely a different issue. With XP it might mean your recycle bin is corrupted

... been running CCleaner without problems for years on my six rigs ... but

after updating to v5.27.5976(64-bit) CCleaner crashes at around 97% (Firefox) on only ONE of my PCs.

All PCs have Win7 Pro 64-bit running - each with two accounts (one admin and one normal user).

CCleaner works OK with the ADMIN account (on the one and only crashing system), but crashes when executing it on the second (normal user) account.

After reading the post here, I unchecked the "compact database" option for Firefox and it then works OK.

I'm not running other browsers (except IE - not using it).

I have attached a zipped dump log file.

The dump instructions you have pinned are not quite correct - the log file is located unser user appdata local crashdumps (at least on my setup).

Have a nice day!

we have been informed by the Admins that a solution for the Compact Database issue will be in the next release. ;)

it's hardly a show-stopper, untick one box and the problem goes away.

it's an annoyance at best.

yes, it was sad it wasn't released with v5.28 but there would have been a reason, most likely a solution wasn't ready in time for the scheduled release.

dear mta (post #24),

your answer is very unprofessional.

WHY?  Because we need this option (that you point out to untick) on a regular daily basis for "production".

So, please be careful with your simplified sayings.

Have a nice day ...
