problems with 'Run CCleaner when the computer starts'

Hi everybody,

I'm experiencing problems with CCleaner 5.21.5700 on Windows 10.

Somehow I'm not able to have CCleaner start up automatically when I boot up my laptop.

I checked and unchecked the 'Run CCleaner when the computer starts' several time, but this did not fix the problem.

I'm also able to start the program manually from the start menu and the program itself seems fine, but I'm just not able to start it automatically at boot.

I've tried the basic stuff like a fresh install and even throwing away some remaining registry keys.

CCleaner is shown in the task scheduler and other places where you can check which programs are initiated at startup.

The weird thing is that on my desktop I'm also using CCleaner and there it works perfectly, after boot it's there on the taskbar with a tray icon and everything.

I can find no differences between my laptop and my desktop, it's driving me crazy why this simple thing just won't work...

Any help is more than welcome, thank you for your time!

Kind regards,

On newer windows (seven and up) it is needed to use the skipuac option in ccleaner in conjunction with the auto start. Else sometimes the admin prompt gets swallowed.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

Just thinking out loud, the tray icon says 'CCleaner monitoring active' which would lead me to the conclusion that the "CCleaner64.exe /MONITOR" is the command that is having difficulties getting through the UAC or something else when booting up.

Do you have any thoughts on this?...

@CSGalloway, I tried rebooting several times but CCleaner will not start automatically, good suggestion though!

@Nergal, already tried fiddling around with the minimize to tray, the problem is that CCleaner is NOT starting automatically, let alone show itself in the system tray...

Ccleaner is working just fine but I have to start it manually after booting my computer, ideally I would like to have it just sitting in the tray doing its thing without me interfering.
