CCleaner stalls on IE cookies

CCleaner stalls on IE cookies. I use Firefox exclusively, but every time I run CCleaner it stalls while trying to clear IE cookies. It seems like it's the first thing it tries to do because it stalls at exactly 4% every time. Eventually it gets through it, but it takes forever. It will even stall when I first start up my computer and haven't even done anything. Just as an experiment, I've run CCleaner as soon as I start up and it still stalls. There shouldn't be anything to clean, but it still stalls.

 

Can anyone help me?

What programs start with your pc? That's where I'd check first.

 

Please run ccleaner in debug mode (see the sticky at the top of this board, ccleaner bug reporting). And recreate the bug and then provide the resulting log as an attachment to this thread

As well as what Nergal asked, what operating system are you using?

The only things that start up are AVAST, FF, atiptaxx, & ctfmon. I'm using XP.

I tried uploading the debug log, but it's telling me I can't upload that type of file. I even tried the basic uploader. I'll post a small portion below. You can see it stalls at 13:36:34 which would coincide with the 4% I mentioned earlier.  Strangely enough, this "stall" actually didn't last as long as it normally does.

Your log clearly shows it's not ie cookies that stops it but a temporary file . This file is likely locked by a process for what ever created it.

So there's nothing  I can do about it?

What program is it linked to? Quit the program before cleaning is 1 thing you can do, see if it helps. You can add the file to exclude (run analysis, go into details find the entry, right click, add to exclude). You can contact the program developer and ask them why they use such a gosh darn (or stronger words) stupid firetrucking (ok now I'm reaching ) place to put a live dll file. You could scan the dll with your antivirus to see if it's safe (though in all likelihood it belongs to your antivirus because they are known for being dumb like that).

 

I'd say there is very far from nothing you can do

Thanks, Nergal. How do I find out what file is causing the problem? Nothing else is running when I clean.

Try booting into safe mode and running Ccleaner.
