DenSpa_87
Hi everyone. I'm having a problem on my PC for the past week and I've looked everywhere but I can't seem to find a solution. It's driving me crazy. After I used ccleaner (free version) on my PC I noticed that the drop menus on websites don't show my local fonts. I've tried installing and reinstalling my fonts on my PC but nothing changed. I've even looked in my Registry and I see the fonts are there. Nothing has changed everything looks fine but I can't use my fonts online. I can't figure out what is causing this. I installed ccleaner on one of my work PCs to test it out and the same thing happened: the website works fine on the PC that I didn't clean with ccleaner but fonts are missing on the one I cleaned. Can anyone help me? Thanks. "Nothing Is True Everything Is Permitted"
Moderators nukecad Posted October 18, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 18, 2017 This may not help but what browser are you using, and what is/are the font(s)? Would they be local langage fonts by any chance? I ask because there was a recent update to something, I think it was last Tuesdays Windows update, that messed up support for some languages / fonts. (I'll see if I can find it again). EDIT Yes it was last weeks patch Tuesday update from Microsoft, it messed up Czech, Arabic, and some other unspecified language settings and fonts for some users. Sorry can't post a link from this phone but if you google 'patch tuesday october language' you should find some articles about it. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? DenSpa_87
Thanks for the reply. I've tried it with Crome, Edge and an older version of Safari and the font I was using was Comic Sans. I was translating a webtoon from English to Greek but I can't see my fonts in English either. But now that you mentioned it, it did do an update the same day. I'll look it up and see if Greek is one of the languages the update messed up. DenSpa_87
I looked it up. I can't find anyone else with the same problem as me. The update changes Czech & Arabic to English and might also cause a blue screen or black screen at shut down. I tried remove the update (that was a bad idea) didn't help. I also tried to install the new "Fall Creator Update" but for some reasons it won't install. That's tomorrow's problem, for now I still don't have fonts. How can I figure out if it's the update or ccleaner causing the problem? I uninstalled and reinstalled my browser (Chrome) that didn't help either. I think ccleaner erased something from the Register. I don't know ???? Edit: nope Windows update didn't help. Moderators hazelnut Posted October 19, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2017 Did you clean the registry using Ccleaner and savee a backup when asked to do so? DenSpa_87
I did the registry clean with ccleaner but stupid me didn't save the backup. I thought: "I use ccleaner all these years and never had a problem, no need to save." I've learned my lesson. Moderators nukecad Posted October 19, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2017 If it's affecting Chrome, Edge, and Safari then it sounds like its not a browser problem. Normaly a reinstall would be a bit drastic just to fix a font problem, but as you say its Fall Creators time so everybody with Windows 10 is going to be doing a reinstall anyway. Hopefuly when you get the upgrade to Windows done it should fix the problem. I've just re-read your initial post and am now wondering if we are looking at the problem the wrong way. I'm not sure what is meant by "the drop menus on websites don't show my local fonts." Could you give an example? eg, what drop menus on which websites. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? DenSpa_87
I stayed up till 2 am last night to install the Fall Creators update but nothing changed.I'll show you two images because I don't know how to describe it. This image is from a pc that I haven't used ccleaner, that's how mine looked before too. and in this one is how it looks after ccleaner on the left where I choose the fonts it only has 4 fonts to choose from (and those are web fonts) but before I was able to see a lot more.In the second picture you can also see at the right with red letters it says I'm missing the previously used font. Also on https://typezebra.com/ my "Local Fonts" are blank as well, I dont know if that helps. "Nothing Is True Everything Is Permitted"
Moderators mta Posted October 19, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2017 in your c:\windows\fonts folder, do you still have >200 entries? try running sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt and see what happens. DenSpa_87
Yes my fonts seem to be in the "fonts" folder. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling all my fonts but still the same. I haven't tried the "scannow" yet. I only tried the "repair Windows at startup" which didn't help either. I'll try it and inform you what happens. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk "Nothing Is True Everything Is Permitted"

DenSpa_87
So I did some more digging and searching and I'm starting to believe it IS the Microsoft patch that's causing the problem. I noticed that the only PC that I didn't have ccleaner on was also running XP. So, I used a laptop running Windows 10 that didn't have ccleaner and it too didn't have the fonts, but it did have the Tuesday patch. ???? DenSpa_87
I read the whole thing!!! Looks like it could be what's causing my problem as well. The difference is my photoshop, Adobe reader and Word seem to work fine. I have a big list of fonts can't tell if anything is missing. I only have standard fonts and they all seem to be there. I did noticed though that my Word (I still use an old version) pops up the 1907 error once I go to run it, but works fine afterwards. I'm getting this error after the creators update. If I ain't mistaking error 1907 has to do with fonts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk "Nothing Is True Everything Is Permitted"

Moderators nukecad Posted October 23, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 23, 2017 There is a temporary registry fix for this font problem posted on the Adobe forum.(At least it appears to be the same problem).https://forums.adobe.com/message/9741268#9741268Post #5 has 2 script files attached, one that will apply the fix, and one that will remove it at a later date, (see below).Read the post because these script files need renaming before running. The files were apparently provided by Microsoft, don't know why they didnt make them more widely available?I haven't tried the fixes - because I am not seeing the problem. You might want to read the full thread to make sure that this is indeed your problem. There are reports there that the fix sorted out fonts in Corel, and Autocad, as well as Adobe. It also says there that the font problem should be fixed by the Fall Creators Update, which is why there is a second script to undo the temporary registry change before installing the FCU. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Moderators nukecad Posted October 23, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 23, 2017 Oh well, it was worth a try. It may be a related problem though. That fix was for Windows not recognising fonts stored locally to Adobe (or the other programnes) instead of in the Windows fonts directory. If you are using an online editor Windows may not be recognising the fonts that are stored on the online website?? *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? DenSpa_87
Yeah, I tried... Maybe, because I also tried changing the font to one that shows up in the drop menu but once I logged out and logged back in it said font not found ... But it's right there!!! I was reading in the first forum you send me someone said that the update removed some fonts on purpose. Silly move by Microsoft if you ask me ???? Moderators nukecad Posted October 23, 2017 Moderators Share Posted October 23, 2017 I'm wondering if it may be something to do with the changes they have made to the Security Centre? They have added anti-exploit and anti-ransomware in the Fall Update, and I think they made some changes to the firewall. It could be that one of these is blocking online font usage? Just guessing there but if I were seeing this problem I might try turning these off and on to check. If I see anthing more about this problem online I'll try and remember to post it here. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Off track for a second I will be connecting to our National Broad ban in a few days and after that my computer technician will be checking every thing and he should be able to fix the problem.
