  1. Today
  2. New update

Finally fixed ... after trying many times I finally completely uninstalled the (old ver) with RevoUninstall, then reinstalled the old version, and bingo the update worked.
  3. I am trying to recover pictures that I deleted from my recycle bin. When they were deleted they were in a zipfile. Not sure if this matters for the issue I'm having. Whenever I run a recovery scan, the thurmbnails for my pictures that I want to recover, only show about 1/10th of the image. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  4. email link?

Hey thanks for writing back, so oooops I did send it as a link to some of my friends using IE 11, but no one has written back telling me they tried it yet, so I'm sorry if maybe that was a mistake but it was only a few and I really was impressed with the speed. So OK yes I was talking about having a link to my own email integration so I can send a web page link. Here is something that happened to me yesterday, I was using your browser and decided to pay a small propane bill and when I got to a certain point to put in my CC info I couldn't so I called the company and we switched back to IE11 and then it worked. So I concluded that it was the Ad Block, so right now it's turned off, I went to the settings page and turned off all the checks to make it stop. I do want to use it but sometime it needs to be stopped so if when you are messing around with it in the future could you add a simple stop feature to do a task then easily turn it back on? The settings page for the Ad Block for a armature are completely undecipherable so I turned them all off, yeah now the web pages are jumping with ads but they work. I was very impressed on the speed of integrating my Favs. from IE 11 and that's so much better than having to start over bookmarking sites again when you use Fire Fox or Chrome which are not as good and easy as Internet Explorer. Thanks, Marc
  5. Winapp2.ini additions

No, it does not appear to have any negative affect on Edge Chromium. Works okay as far as I can tell.

I used to have a team in Madrid who were extremely hard workers. But yeah, Brits in Spain would probably think they were on holiday. So Holborn it shall remain. Instead of outdoor dining on the Costa del Sol we have the outdoor seating at Costa Coffee downstairs - but we'll get more done.
  7. email link?

Thank @Marc Hlaktoong. Glad you are enjoying the features so far - keep an eye on the forums here since there are plenty more to come. Are you trying to send a link to a friend to download CCleaner Browser? If so the download link and more information about CCleaner Browser (including links to the documentation and help files) can be found here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/browser. (Note that while some users have had it offered to them when they install CCleaner itself, this is not a guaranteed way of being able to get it - while the browser is in preview it is only being presented to a minority of users.) Or is this a question about some sort of native email integration?
  8. Adding my own extensions to CCleaner Browser?

Cool! Thank you so much!! Lisa
  9. Adding my own extensions to CCleaner Browser?

Fair call re creating a separate help section. This has just been created, and your query moved there :-) Since CCleaner Browser is member of the Chromium codebase family, if you go here https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions in the CCleaner browser you should be able to add in all of your usual extensions. Being built with privacy in mind, CCleaner Browser will pop and and advise you exactly what potentially private information the extension will be able to access - for extensions and publishers that you know and trust, this should probably not be a cause for undue alarm.
  10. Really need another topic under the CCleaner Browser and that's a Ask a question or a HELP! one! I have looked everywhere and spent the past 2 hours reading various articles but I haven't found the right one yet. I'm getting off work and going to bed so thought I would pass the question on and see if someone could explain to me how to add my OWN extensions to the CCleaner Browser. I need my Dashlane password manager, my Webroot Spysweeper and my Honey and Rakuten sales ones. I wouldn't mind my Pinterest button too. Any help is appreciated. I also hope I have posted this correctly as I'm not user saavy in forums either! Thanks, Lisa AKA 1alien2gopleze
  11. Winapp2.ini additions

Ok, we already know that, but there must be a reason why the LevelDB is always there. So I searched the web and found the following developer document: https://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/sync/unified-sync-and-storage-overview. They are talking about different models that use either only the SQLite and/or also the LevelDB. Therefore, the LevelDB also seems to store sync (meta)data. Does it break Chrome if you use "%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome*\User Data\*\Sync Data|*.*|RECURSE"? @siliconman01: What is your experience? Does it break the Chromium-based Edge if you use "%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge*\User Data\*\Sync Data|*.*|RECURSE"?
  12. Defragging freespace doesn´t seem to work !

You are looking for the Holy Grail, and making a common mistake of confusing 'defragmentation' with 'consolidation'. Defragmentation is intended to make each file contiguous, wherever they are located on the drive. Consolidation is intended to get all the different files in contiguous block. (Usually at the start of the drive). Modern defraggers will try to do the best they can for both, but you are still going to have 'holes' in the storage. In particular you will find that the Windows 'Pagefile' is usually in a fixed position somewhere up the drive and can't be moved, it may even be split into 2 or more parts. (Which can be consolidated but not easily). We say it's the Holy Grail because it's almost impossible to do, and even if you manage to get all your files in one block at the start of the drive that will change as soon as you start using it again, especially next time you install or update anything. I, and others here, content ourselves with defragmenting the files and not particularly bothering about where they actually are on the drive. As long as each file itself is contiguous then it won't (noticably) change the access speed no matter where they are on the drive. With an 8TB drive you'll find that's much faster than defragging the whole drive. With Defraggler run an Analyze, select 'View files', check or highlight the fragmented files, and 'Defrag Checked' or 'Defrag Highlighted'. PS. Defragmenting freespace attemps to do the opposite and get all the freespace contiguous (but still not consolidated), to do this it usually has to fragment some files. It will also take a long time (days?) on an 8TB drive.
  13. Winapp2.ini additions

Sync data is being saved in SyncData.sqlite3 file.
  14. Hello fellows, I´m using Defraggler to try to move the files to the beginning of a seagate 8Tb hard disk. Although Defraggler shows that the files are not fragmented, I see great portions of gap between them. These files are only video and common files, not system files nor important files. I used the option defragg freespace, but it looks like it stays at 16% forever, moving some little things or not for 4 hours and the view is basicaly the same ( It doesn´t seem to work ), so I had another idea: Copy all files to another Hard disk and bring them back. Well, when I do that, the folder is copied fine, but when I watch on defraggler, it´s not contiguous, it´s written part on the beginning of the disk and parts around the middle of the disk, and I wanted that these files could be located at the beginning of the disk because they are video files, I need speed. What could be happening ? Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.
  15. Winapp2.ini additions

Shall we add "*\Sync Data\LevelDB|*.*" as in siliconman01's entry for the Chromium-based Edge? If so, then I think we can also use "*\Sync Data|*.*|RECURSE" as a single FileKey, right?
  16. Wipe clipboard history (Windows 10 1809)

That and you'd have to have a Microsoft account for it to be partially cloud-based, if you use a local account it should remain local.
  17. Avast CEO paid peanuts

You'd never get anything done, the website would state Under Construction, and then underneath it an image of a beach ball with the text On Vacation.
  18. CCleaner Pro Software Updater

Many thanks. I shall wait for the next CoreFTP update; hope they will clear this up.

  20. Speccy - No updates since May 2018

^ Thanks for the reply Dave.
  21. Avast CEO paid peanuts

Yup, an office on the costa Del Sol would certainly be nice!
  22. "Yes, thanks, I contacted Dr.Web and they fixed this mistake, the problem is solved!"
  23. ublock users

ublock v1.21.2 gorhill released this Jul 19, 2019 Commits with no entry in issue tracker: Fix thrown exception in onHeadersReceived listener ps: For Chromium version 54 and older, it is necessary to enable "Experimental JavaScript" at chrome://flags/#enable-javascript-harmony.
  24. Speccy - No updates since May 2018

@Robbie: Coming - yes. Imminent - no. Defraggler, Speccy, Recuva and CCleaner for Mac were all due for an update. CCleaner Mac got one a month ago and is due another later this year for Catalina compatibility. The increasing user base for Speccy was overloading the server, so that got a refresh earlier this month. To confirm, updates to the client software for Defraggler, Speccy and Recuva are certainly planned. No committed dates at this point in time, but we're aiming for later this year.

Welcome back! We are pretty much all in the London office (this shiny glass thing here) - except for a few folks in North America. Disappointingly, my suggestion that we should open up an office on the Costa Del Sol have so far been ignored.
  26. Thanks for the above link. I didn't realise that clipboard is partly now cloud based but the above article shows how to clear clipboard history. If I've read the above correctly the clipboard history is only cloud based if you choose to sync across devices. On my laptop I haven't enabled that feature nor have I enabled Clipboard History. As a result there's nothing showing when I press the Windows key + v even though I've used Clipboard a few times today. At least this thread has made me aware of a potential security problem.

      Forum Rules

Welcome to the Piriform Forums!     In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of The Moderating Team.     1: Be respectful to all members when posting.   No flaming, personal attacks such as flaming, instigating "flame bait", verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts are not tolerated at the Piriform Forums. Such posts will be deleted on sight and moderated accordingly. If you are a long standing member, act like one.   Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be warned. Should you ignore this warning you will be banned.     2: No Warez (links) & Cracks.   Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting to get it.     3: Don't post your question under multiple topics.   Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Be sure to check the pinned topics or use the Search feature to see if your question has already been addressed. When posting, have something to say, not just "My first post!"     4: No spamming, ever!   Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.   Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.     5: Unacceptable Forum or News comments.   While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.   "Old news" or anything similar.   "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.   "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.     6: Avatars, signatures and custom user titles.   I: Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 90x90 and 50kb in size. Avatars can also be in any of these formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.   II: Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad. Signatures can be a maximum of 350x100 and 80kb in size.   III: You may have an image at the maximum of 350x100 in your signature at the standard text size and four lines of text with the image.   IV: You may have a maximum six lines of text in your signature at the standard size. Larger font sizes are allowed so long as they do not break the 350x100 limit.   V: X-Fire signatures are an exception to this rule as they only have two sizes that are preset.   VI: Advertising in your signature is strictly prohibited. Linking to a product that competes against Piriform is strictly prohibited.   VII: Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.   VIII: Inappropriate content such as Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...   IX: If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, ie. bright flashing colors, animated signatures (i.e. GIF's/Flash) Audio and Video. These are distracting for our members, so do not have audio or video in your signature.   X: Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.   XI: Do not use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.   Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. Disregarding the above rules will result in the loss of the item in violation without warning.     7: Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.   If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic of a forum, please take it to "The Lounge". The Lounge was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section. We welcome most general conversation in The Lounge, but discourage it from other forums.     8: Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.   Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of the Piriform Forum members.   Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.   For example: Oh no! | I'm mad | Please help.   This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.   A few good examples:   CCleaner crashes during the analysis | Registry issues keep reappearing after scanning with CCleaner Issues | Computer very slow to startup.     9: No alternate accounts are allowed.   Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post. Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that ability by re-registering is not tolerated.   If another account is opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.     10: Giving advice on Malware Removal.   Giving advice on the removal of Malware by any member is to be discouraged. Even though some members may believe they have the knowledge to offer some basic safe advice, it may not be the "best" advice, and could also set a precedent for any member, knowledgeable or otherwise, to do the same.   Advice should only be dispensed by a qualified Malware Removal Expert on a reputable Malware Removal Forum.   This is to prevent "wrong" advice, albeit well meaning, being given by non qualified members, which could have disastrous consequences for the original poster.   If someone asks for help on removing Malware would members please limit themselves to pointing them to one or all of the following Malware Removal Forums ...   1: BleepingComputer   2: Geeks to Go   3: MalwareBytes Malware Removal   4: Malware Removal Forum   5: Cyber Tech Help   6: Avast Malware Removal Forum     11: Inappropriate Content.   No content, or advice or requests for assistance, relating to any activity that the moderators consider to be illegal or offensive will be tolerated.     12: The Piriform Staff requires that members respect the decision of moderators.   Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants.   Reporting System: Do not abuse the report system, while we appreciate members reporting bad behavior, we don't appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at handling problems around here.   However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any Moderator or Administrator regarding action taken at the Piriform Forums.     13. Closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic:   Once an administrator or moderator has closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic it's then deemed to be a closed matter. If the member starts a new topic or posts with the same or similar unacceptable content it will result into administrative actions being taken against the member.   14. Publishing the content of Private Messages:   Please be aware that the posting of any contents of private messages (PM's) is expressly forbidden on the forum unless both parties have agreed to it.   15. Requesting help with computer issues via the pm (private messaging) system:   The pm (private messaging) system isn't to be used for requests for help with computer issues.   All requests for help must be posted in a topic on the forum where the poster will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of all members, and many others will benefit from the answers and solutions provided.   If any member (which includes moderators) wants to volunteer aid by pm after a topic has first been opened, then that's up to him or her and is perfectly acceptable.   Using the pm system as an alternative to opening a topic where everyone may benefit, isn't the correct or fair way to use that system, and could put members into the uncomfortable position of having to refuse requests for help, or worse still, being unable to refuse.   If any member is in that position, and still doesn't know what to do, then please pm one of the moderators, and they will sort it out quickly, confidentially, and in as friendly a way as possible.     Note:   Any infraction of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Piriform Forum account and will be added to your overall warning level.
