  1. Today
  2. Windows 10 1903

No matter what I do (short of making a install disc and forcing it) I can't get above 1803 oh well I hardly use a pc any more
  3. Winapp2.ini additions

Yes, other Google programs use same locations to keep update files. I have Google Earth and it keeps updates in there. I agree that we should also add %LocalAppData%
  4. Windows 10 1903

Sorry for the delay, I got stuck helping/serving in the pub (Travellers on their way to Appleby horse fair). 1903 installed with no problems, download was fine once I'd got a fast conection, but install took it's time. Looking round the settings obviously there are changes, but no problems that I can see yet.
  5. After accidentally ctrl-z ing away a folder full of photos I used recuva to get the files back. The files were all there but when I try and view the photos my computer tells me that it doesn't support the format (they are all .jpgs, which shouldn't cause problems.) What happened? How can I get my pictures back?
  6. Subscription pop up keep comming up

I have the same issue. I have renew my subscription but the pop up keeps coming. Tried to reinstall CCleaner and re-enter my activation key but with no results. This is REALLY annoying !! Using v5.57.7182 (64-bit) on Windows 10 latest update to date.
  7. After i wiped my free space via ccleaner my mouse is lagging every 10 or 30 seconds. I was browsing and playing games stupidly while ccleaner wiping and i think that's why it's happening. Formatting didn't solve the problem, did i physically damage my hdd? What are your suggestions for solving this issue? Thanks in advance.
  8. CCleaner Disabled Outlook/Gmail 2-step Login

Hmm maybe just an extreme coincidence in timing. Thank you.
  9. CCleaner Disabled Outlook/Gmail 2-step Login

Just thought I'd link to this in case it gave you any thoughts. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/outlook-2016-all-of-a-sudden-wont-open-gmail.416842/
  10. I had my Outlook open and downloaded the newest version of CCleaner yesterday and after running the standard clean my Outlook no longer recognizes either of my Gmail accounts with their 2-step authentication and app-specific passwords. I tried updating the login info in the correct way, and also tried deleting the accounts entirely from Outloook and starting over, and it will not accept the account logins no matter how, or how many times, I reset them. So my question is, why is this new version of CCleaner doing this and how do I fix it? Or otherwise, how do I revert to the file I created before running the cleaner and I'll just delete CCleaner as no longer worth the hassle and use another program. Thank you for your help.
  11. Sometimes when i run CCleaner, it stuck at IE clean for some time and after some time it continue with Esent error (Event 489 - WebCacheV01.dat only for reading) in windows log. But sometimes is stuck completely without doing anything for some time (CCleaner clean IE cookie that moment), then i must hit cancel button and after that CCleaner completely freeze and windows must shut down CCleaner. (Application hang - Event 1002). I use default settings for IE. Win 7 64 bit
  12. Windows 10 1903

Just installing it now. Had no problems apart from the slow wifi at home, (5-6 Mbps max), so I brought the laptop across to the pub (any excuse). Wifi 60+ Mbps, downloaded in no time. Now at 82% updating.
  13. Even more so now that Windows 10 Home will let you defer instaling downloaded updates for up to 35 days. So if you do defer the installation then you are taking a risk of losing the downloaded files if you run any cleaner other than Storage Sense or Disk Clean-up.
  14. CCleaner free and Windows 10 update files

I wouldn't run any disk cleaning program during that scenario rather it's built into Windows itself such as Disk Cleanup and Storage Sense, and definitely not any third party cleaning programs such as CCleaner, etc.
  15. Those are put there by CCleaner itself, located in the Cookies to Keep area so it won't delete them. You can find those located in CCleaner at: Options > Cookies
  16. Windows 10 1903

I have installed 1903 on 4 machines now,. 2 via the Update Assistant, and 2 via clean installs. I have had no issues at all. Just about every Feature update of Win 10 has had issues with something. If I took notice of all those warnings I would never install anything !!!
  17. The Firefox/Mozilla Thread

  18. The Firefox/Mozilla Thread

  19. I have a wIn10 system where the "optimise" will not work. I think I opted for defraggler to "replace built-in defrag" when I installed it years ago in Win7, since upgraded. How can I get it back? - I use both on my main system.
  20. They removed the cleaning of Windows Update files from CCleaner a while back. Specifically because Windows 10 handles update files differently from earlier Windows versions (It installs some of them over time rather than all at once) and so Windows 10 updates could be / were being affected by the cleaning. To be extra cautious though I wouldn't run CC between downloading and installing Windows updates. Windows 10 will remove the update files itself when they are no longer needed. (Or you could use Storage Sense or Disk Clean-up which both know which windows update files are safe to clean at any time).
  21. Winapp2.ini additions

Thanks for the revised entry, but did you see that the entry [Updates *] also contains FileKeys for other Chromium-based browsers? I think you just want to separate Google Update because it also updates other Google software, right? Then I suggest that we use the following entries: [Updates *] LangSecRef=3029 Detect1=HKCU\Software\BraveSoftware Detect2=HKCU\Software\CocCoc\Browser Detect3=HKCU\Software\Torch Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\CocCoc\Update\Download|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\CocCoc\Update\Install|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\CocCoc\Update\Offline|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Torch\Update\Download|*.*|RECURSE FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Torch\Update\Install|*.*|RECURSE FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Torch\Update\Offline|*.*|RECURSE FileKey7=%ProgramFiles%\BraveSoftware\Update\Download|*.*|RECURSE FileKey8=%ProgramFiles%\BraveSoftware\Update\Install|*.*|RECURSE FileKey9=%ProgramFiles%\BraveSoftware\Update\Offline|*.*|RECURSE [Google Update *] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKCU\Software\Google\Update Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Google\Update\Download|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Google\Update\Install|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Google\Update\Offline|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Update\Download|*.*|RECURSE FileKey5=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Update\Install|*.*|RECURSE FileKey6=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Update\Offline|*.*|RECURSE Google Update can also be found at %LocalAppData%\Google\Update\, e.g. if you install Google Chrome Canary.
  22. Windows 10 1903

Interestingly the Update Assistant in the UK was still offering 1809 until just minutes ago. It's got 1903 now. (Hazelnuts' link above is the US site). They are releasing 1903 slowly, so it may be weeks or months before you are offered it on the normal release channel. There are also still a few outstanding hardware/software issues that need to be resolved before it will be offered to some machines. eg. You can find a list of all 12 of the known issues here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-1903 If you install 1903 using the Update Assistant rather than waiting until it is offered then be aware that one or more of these issues may affect you. Your choice whether to risk it or not, you know your own machine.
  23. Hi all! My question is, if I run ccleaner free under windows 10 and windows 10 has downloaded updates, will it not be affected by ccleaner? I hope it doesn't effect on it before rebooting. Thanks
  24. Hello. I use 5.57.7182 portable CCleaner with last Fierfox and last Windows 10,64 bits. There are 4 cookies inefaceable: 1 avast,1 ccleaner,1 ccleanercloud and piriform. How to remove that 4 cookies? Thanks. Regards.
  25. Recovering deleting apps

LOL, yes restoring the list from a backup of CCleaners settings would be simpler. I guess that we just get used to people who ask for help here because they haven't been doing backups.
  26. Visual C++ Redistributables

If you like to keep your C++ Redistributables up-to-date, check the link below: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads Note that MS has combined 2015-2017-2019.

      Forum Rules

Welcome to the Piriform Forums!     In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of The Moderating Team.     1: Be respectful to all members when posting.   No flaming, personal attacks such as flaming, instigating "flame bait", verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts are not tolerated at the Piriform Forums. Such posts will be deleted on sight and moderated accordingly. If you are a long standing member, act like one.   Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be warned. Should you ignore this warning you will be banned.     2: No Warez (links) & Cracks.   Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting to get it.     3: Don't post your question under multiple topics.   Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Be sure to check the pinned topics or use the Search feature to see if your question has already been addressed. When posting, have something to say, not just "My first post!"     4: No spamming, ever!   Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.   Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.     5: Unacceptable Forum or News comments.   While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.   "Old news" or anything similar.   "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.   "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.     6: Avatars, signatures and custom user titles.   I: Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 90x90 and 50kb in size. Avatars can also be in any of these formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.   II: Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad. Signatures can be a maximum of 350x100 and 80kb in size.   III: You may have an image at the maximum of 350x100 in your signature at the standard text size and four lines of text with the image.   IV: You may have a maximum six lines of text in your signature at the standard size. Larger font sizes are allowed so long as they do not break the 350x100 limit.   V: X-Fire signatures are an exception to this rule as they only have two sizes that are preset.   VI: Advertising in your signature is strictly prohibited. Linking to a product that competes against Piriform is strictly prohibited.   VII: Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.   VIII: Inappropriate content such as Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...   IX: If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, ie. bright flashing colors, animated signatures (i.e. GIF's/Flash) Audio and Video. These are distracting for our members, so do not have audio or video in your signature.   X: Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.   XI: Do not use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.   Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. Disregarding the above rules will result in the loss of the item in violation without warning.     7: Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.   If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic of a forum, please take it to "The Lounge". The Lounge was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section. We welcome most general conversation in The Lounge, but discourage it from other forums.     8: Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.   Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of the Piriform Forum members.   Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.   For example: Oh no! | I'm mad | Please help.   This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.   A few good examples:   CCleaner crashes during the analysis | Registry issues keep reappearing after scanning with CCleaner Issues | Computer very slow to startup.     9: No alternate accounts are allowed.   Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post. Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that ability by re-registering is not tolerated.   If another account is opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.     10: Giving advice on Malware Removal.   Giving advice on the removal of Malware by any member is to be discouraged. Even though some members may believe they have the knowledge to offer some basic safe advice, it may not be the "best" advice, and could also set a precedent for any member, knowledgeable or otherwise, to do the same.   Advice should only be dispensed by a qualified Malware Removal Expert on a reputable Malware Removal Forum.   This is to prevent "wrong" advice, albeit well meaning, being given by non qualified members, which could have disastrous consequences for the original poster.   If someone asks for help on removing Malware would members please limit themselves to pointing them to one or all of the following Malware Removal Forums ...   1: BleepingComputer   2: Geeks to Go   3: MalwareBytes Malware Removal   4: Malware Removal Forum   5: Cyber Tech Help   6: Avast Malware Removal Forum     11: Inappropriate Content.   No content, or advice or requests for assistance, relating to any activity that the moderators consider to be illegal or offensive will be tolerated.     12: The Piriform Staff requires that members respect the decision of moderators.   Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants.   Reporting System: Do not abuse the report system, while we appreciate members reporting bad behavior, we don't appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at handling problems around here.   However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any Moderator or Administrator regarding action taken at the Piriform Forums.     13. Closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic:   Once an administrator or moderator has closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic it's then deemed to be a closed matter. If the member starts a new topic or posts with the same or similar unacceptable content it will result into administrative actions being taken against the member.   14. Publishing the content of Private Messages:   Please be aware that the posting of any contents of private messages (PM's) is expressly forbidden on the forum unless both parties have agreed to it.   15. Requesting help with computer issues via the pm (private messaging) system:   The pm (private messaging) system isn't to be used for requests for help with computer issues.   All requests for help must be posted in a topic on the forum where the poster will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of all members, and many others will benefit from the answers and solutions provided.   If any member (which includes moderators) wants to volunteer aid by pm after a topic has first been opened, then that's up to him or her and is perfectly acceptable.   Using the pm system as an alternative to opening a topic where everyone may benefit, isn't the correct or fair way to use that system, and could put members into the uncomfortable position of having to refuse requests for help, or worse still, being unable to refuse.   If any member is in that position, and still doesn't know what to do, then please pm one of the moderators, and they will sort it out quickly, confidentially, and in as friendly a way as possible.     Note:   Any infraction of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Piriform Forum account and will be added to your overall warning level.
