  2. Uninstall Microsoft OneDrive, Windows 10: Select Start button Select Settings (the gear icon) Select Apps (Apps & features page is displayed) Scroll down to Microsoft OneDrive, left click, select Uninstall
  3. On most Windows 10 versions you can't uninstall OneDrive. The best you can do is disable it by unlinking and hiding it. https://support.office.com/en-us/article/turn-off-disable-or-uninstall-onedrive-f32a17ce-3336-40fe-9c38-6efb09f944b0
  4. I can try that but is it even possible to install Office 365 components individually? Mine all installs as a bundle. Just checked and it appears I don't have an option to uninstall One Drive individually. Further edit: The version of OneDrive on my machine is the latest version available for download v19.123.o624.0005

  6. Wow! I understand your frustration scoobydog. I encountered the identical problem around the same time as you (and others). I'm running an old free version (v5.01.5075, 64-bit) that I went back to when I found newer versions were getting too complicated for my needs. When the problem first occurred, I noted that the Microsoft folks had pushed out an Office 365 update just prior to that corruption of all Office programs in Office directory (can't fathom why so many folks have jumped on the shortcut angle). I didn't rule out that something in Office 365 changed that triggered the problem. I searched for solutions and dabbled with some ideas for a day and opted to just stop using CCleaner. Yesterday, I caught up on this thread that you started to see if a solution had been identified... nope. So I read up on Office 365 functionality and set out to try a few things. I won't get into why I did what I did, but can say that uninstalling the OneDrive program from the problem PC got rid of the problem. Ran CCleaner several times after removal and there was no corruption of the Office programs executables. I went out to Microsoft, installed the latest OneDrive program, and ran CCleaner. No corruption problem. If you have OneDrive installed, I suggest giving this a shot. If it works, I can fill you in on some of the install background here that got me on the path. Good Luck! 8. Large Volume of Junk found by CCleaner

On a related topic, due to the interest in the new Windows 10 multi-clipboard cleaning expressed here on the forum, this has now been added as a feature in the latest CCleaner release. Note that it only works on the local storage though - not if you have cloud synced between devices.
  9. Support for newer windows features (at least with regards to strictly locally stored information) will always be in the feature queue - but thanks for signalling interest in the new Windows 10 (1809) multi-clipboard cleaning. This was passed along to the developers and the multi-clipboard cleaning was added as a feature in the latest release (for local storage only - not cloud synced data): Thanks @Julianonfor the suggestion!
  10. Hello Piriform, in CCleaner you have the Software Updater, that tells me what updates are available on my system. When that feature was new, there were only some apps on my system detected. But now (several months and several updates later) there is still only a very small number of apps detected. If that feature should be successful (and if that feature should be an argument to buy CCleaner Pro) then you have to support at least 500 apps. It would be OK to see that there is a new version available and users have to download and install the update manually. But in the current state this feature is totally useless. I see a huge potential in this feature but you have to add more apps! Best regards OLLI
  11. Virus In Latest 1.75 Update for CCleaner

The OP did say he was downloading the browser from the offer. I think it was just the op's AV that recognised/classified the CC Browser incorrectly. Which would seem to show that that partciular AV's definitions are not regularly updated. I'd also noted the oddity of the version number, but assumed it was probably just a typo.

  14. problems with registering professional version

That was a banner intended to tell free users that they could upgrade to pro to perform automatic cleaning, and to give a handy tip to tell paid users that they already had automatic cleaning and how to use it. We had some feedback that some users got the wrong message. We pulled it last week until the targeting is checked. If you think you may have accidentally purchased twice, shoot an email to support@ccleaner.com with your details and they will sort you out.
  15. Problem similiar to two others but I need to know, why, oh why, should defrag take 17+ hours to run???? Using the free version( 2.22.995) Question: screenshot #1 shows 4% defrag afterwards but on final version it was 7%. WHY 17 HRS? and not 100% Question: screenshot #1, what is "Benchmark Drive"? and when, or if I should use it? Question: screenshot #2, it shows "Many" unfragmented sections...I was under the impression that a defraggler was supposed to rearrange all the files, etc. in order to make system organized and faster...mine is not, so why 17 hours without a total defrag???? I only defragged C drive and only 17k files were degragged, and it appears many more were left without doing anything.... Question: Why would I purchase the Pro Version for good money when the Freebie has all these problems? A defrag program should, at most take a maximum of 30 minutes, but 17 hours, that is ridiculous...that was the first time I left my desktop on overnight and still didn't have all of C drive defragged... 16. Virus In Latest 1.75 Update for CCleaner

Curious to find out how you got the Google Toolbar when it has been gone from the past few releases. And it plugged into IE, not Chrome. And also what does the "1.75" refers to in the heading - the latest CCleaner version is 5.61. What was the name of the installer file that you downloaded?
  17. V5.6.7307(64 bit) I have had to reinstall office several times recently and I have just realised it gets messed up after I run ccleaner. Happened again just now, it didn't messup excel because I had it open at the time. All the rest rendered useless. Custom clean mode. Nothing special in my settings for ccleaner. Is this a known problem?
  18. Thanks a lot. I'll try that. Regards Hans
  19. Virus In Latest 1.75 Update for CCleaner

The Google toolbar is not a virus. It was in the Standard CC installer as an offer. (it's no longer there, the CC browser gets offered instead). It's picked up by some AVs as a PUP - a Potentially Unwanted Programe. In this case it wasn't actually the Google toolbar but the new CCleaner browser that your AV has picked up as a PUP and got just which PUP it was wrong, probably because it's also a browser. The main point to note is that there was almost certainly, (never say never), no virus involved, it was just a warning that you may not want to download/install that particular software. (Because doing so would change your browser - which it did).
  20. I recently downloaded the latest free, yeah, i'm a limpet; update for CCleaner from Piriform vs File Hippo. I also accepted the CCleaner Browser. Wanted to try it. I ended up with the following virus: Filename: Google Toolbar Setup [1].exe Malware type: Trojan.Dropper.Ge It really messed up Chrome. Reverted to a clean restore and then ran WebRoot to destroy. Went to FileHippo and downloaded the CCleaner update with no problems. Did not accept the browser.
  21. Hosts File Update

    Got it, thanks.
  22. Complete deleted files from recycle bin

Thanks Augeas for clarifying. I also did a deep scan, but same result. It found a lot of png files, and old jpg files where I could see the preview, but the new ones seem to be lost forever. Would be nice if Windows dedicated a special folder for deleted files from the recycle bin within a week. One normally finds out the mistake in that time span. But I am a little wiser now, and not so trigger happy in the future Michael
  23. upgrades doesn't work

If it's an older version of CCleaner that you're trying to update you can also get the newest version at: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download
  24. Complete deleted files from recycle bin

The deleted files will remain (if they still exist) on the drivre they were originally on. The recycler renames files sent to the recycle bin to two components named $I and $R + a set of random characters + the original file extension. Ignore the $I file, the $R is the one you want. Whether these names are kept on final deletion or reverted to the original does not seem to be clear. If you can't find anything then the files may well be gone forever. You could try a deep scan in this case, but it will not return file or folder names.
  25. I completely deleted jpg/psd files from my recycle bin. I have made a scan, and it finds a lot of old deleted files, but only one of the today deleted files. I have a lot of space on my C Drive (and also D drive), but don't know which drive deleted recycle bin files are hidden. Can somebody clarify, and is there any way I can recover the deleted files. Are deleted recycle files hidden in a specific folder on the C/drive? Michael
  26. upgrades doesn't work

I click on "search for updates", I download them and install them but at the end of the process that seems to take place correctly they are not installed, because in the upper left corner of the program window, the old version of Cleaner always appears
  27. Thanks for your reply. The deep scan is finally over and I was able to recover many files, but the larges ones could not be recovered... I was reading the forum and find this: I think it means that I will not recover my huge files... Thank you for answer me so quickly.
  28. It is not possible to reinstate deleted files, recovery is a copy to a safe place process. The folder structure can be recreated if required, and if it still exists. A deep scan will not find file names or folder information, nor will it find any but the first fragment of a file, so may be of limited use.

      Forum Rules

Welcome to the Piriform Forums!     In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of The Moderating Team.     1: Be respectful to all members when posting.   No flaming, personal attacks such as flaming, instigating "flame bait", verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts are not tolerated at the Piriform Forums. Such posts will be deleted on sight and moderated accordingly. If you are a long standing member, act like one.   Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be warned. Should you ignore this warning you will be banned.     2: No Warez (links) & Cracks.   Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting to get it.     3: Don't post your question under multiple topics.   Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Be sure to check the pinned topics or use the Search feature to see if your question has already been addressed. When posting, have something to say, not just "My first post!"     4: No spamming, ever!   Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.   Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.     5: Unacceptable Forum or News comments.   While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.   "Old news" or anything similar.   "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.   "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.     6: Avatars, signatures and custom user titles.   I: Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 90x90 and 50kb in size. Avatars can also be in any of these formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.   II: Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad. Signatures can be a maximum of 350x100 and 80kb in size.   III: You may have an image at the maximum of 350x100 in your signature at the standard text size and four lines of text with the image.   IV: You may have a maximum six lines of text in your signature at the standard size. Larger font sizes are allowed so long as they do not break the 350x100 limit.   V: X-Fire signatures are an exception to this rule as they only have two sizes that are preset.   VI: Advertising in your signature is strictly prohibited. Linking to a product that competes against Piriform is strictly prohibited.   VII: Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.   VIII: Inappropriate content such as Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...   IX: If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, ie. bright flashing colors, animated signatures (i.e. GIF's/Flash) Audio and Video. These are distracting for our members, so do not have audio or video in your signature.   X: Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.   XI: Do not use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.   Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. Disregarding the above rules will result in the loss of the item in violation without warning.     7: Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.   If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic of a forum, please take it to "The Lounge". The Lounge was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section. We welcome most general conversation in The Lounge, but discourage it from other forums.     8: Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.   Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of the Piriform Forum members.   Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.   For example: Oh no! | I'm mad | Please help.   This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.   A few good examples:   CCleaner crashes during the analysis | Registry issues keep reappearing after scanning with CCleaner Issues | Computer very slow to startup.     9: No alternate accounts are allowed.   Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post. Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that ability by re-registering is not tolerated.   If another account is opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.     10: Giving advice on Malware Removal.   Giving advice on the removal of Malware by any member is to be discouraged. Even though some members may believe they have the knowledge to offer some basic safe advice, it may not be the "best" advice, and could also set a precedent for any member, knowledgeable or otherwise, to do the same.   Advice should only be dispensed by a qualified Malware Removal Expert on a reputable Malware Removal Forum.   This is to prevent "wrong" advice, albeit well meaning, being given by non qualified members, which could have disastrous consequences for the original poster.   If someone asks for help on removing Malware would members please limit themselves to pointing them to one or all of the following Malware Removal Forums ...   1: BleepingComputer   2: Geeks to Go   3: MalwareBytes Malware Removal   4: Malware Removal Forum   5: Cyber Tech Help   6: Avast Malware Removal Forum     11: Inappropriate Content.   No content, or advice or requests for assistance, relating to any activity that the moderators consider to be illegal or offensive will be tolerated.     12: The Piriform Staff requires that members respect the decision of moderators.   Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants.   Reporting System: Do not abuse the report system, while we appreciate members reporting bad behavior, we don't appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at handling problems around here.   However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any Moderator or Administrator regarding action taken at the Piriform Forums.     13. Closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic:   Once an administrator or moderator has closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic it's then deemed to be a closed matter. If the member starts a new topic or posts with the same or similar unacceptable content it will result into administrative actions being taken against the member.   14. Publishing the content of Private Messages:   Please be aware that the posting of any contents of private messages (PM's) is expressly forbidden on the forum unless both parties have agreed to it.   15. Requesting help with computer issues via the pm (private messaging) system:   The pm (private messaging) system isn't to be used for requests for help with computer issues.   All requests for help must be posted in a topic on the forum where the poster will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of all members, and many others will benefit from the answers and solutions provided.   If any member (which includes moderators) wants to volunteer aid by pm after a topic has first been opened, then that's up to him or her and is perfectly acceptable.   Using the pm system as an alternative to opening a topic where everyone may benefit, isn't the correct or fair way to use that system, and could put members into the uncomfortable position of having to refuse requests for help, or worse still, being unable to refuse.   If any member is in that position, and still doesn't know what to do, then please pm one of the moderators, and they will sort it out quickly, confidentially, and in as friendly a way as possible.     Note:   Any infraction of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Piriform Forum account and will be added to your overall warning level.
