  2. Auto Extension: Enabled

Hello everybody, I don't like to enable auto extensions automatically, I prefer to do it manually. When I try to change this option in CCleaner I only have the option "Please click the following link to cancel your subscription for CCleaner Professional from Piriform Software Ltd.". It exists a way to do it without canceling my subscription? If you decided to don't give this option to your users, how long before the end of the subscription can I cancel it? Thanks.

  4. possible bug in confidentiality

it's the CCleaner (free version) last update that proposed me to install the browser. I downloaded from CCleaner (and not Filehippo) and installed it with attention, refusing the options of import, I always do that with software I do not know yet. In fact it reacted just as if I did not uncheck the boxes...
  5. RAPR- DriverStore Explorer 0.8.4.2 Released

You can go to the Control Panel>Nvidia Control Panel to determine which version of the Nvidia software that is currently installed on your system.
  6. Updating to 560

  7. Updating to 560

Pop up message trying to update CCleaner 560. "Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file" I have had this before on earlier updates and never found a work around.

  9. possible bug in confidentiality

Haven't seen this scenario before. Was this a browser install from the website or via the CCleaner installer?
  10. I actually think this is due to a badly mistakable preference. What that box does is run ccleaner in auto mode. It probably is opening to the tray for a few seconds and exiting once the clean is done.
  11. OK - thank you. Sure wish it hadn't done this. I need to watch those checked boxes more carefully.
  12. Similar example - I want my jpeg files to always open in Photoshop, but MS Photos has the file association for some reason. There are a couple of ways to do it. My usual is to right-click on the file, select "Open With" then "Choose Another App". If your app is not on the list then click "More Apps" to find it. Make sure to check the "Always use the app to open" box. Click OK and you're done! (With no need to uninstall whatever software had the association) Additional reading for interested parties from the Adobe forums about other browsers doing the same kind of thing: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2275519. Since our objective is to produce a browser that is better than other browsers, this has been a good feedback thread - thanks everyone.
  13. So this happened to me too and I deleted the browser, now all my pdf's are switched from adobe. I am not very technical, sigh, so how do I get them back the way they were originally?
  14. As you say Onedrive is cloud based, so it's on Microsoft servers. They are not going to let any third party programme delete things from their servers - it would be a malware writers wet dream. Onedrive also creates some local storage on your computer, but if you delete that it will just be re-synced from the cloud. You can disable Onedrive (and Cortana) altogether, (I have) but that's a bit too technical for a thread here - try Googling it.
  15. Tray icon suggestions

Just realized Speccy can show CPU temp and other stats in system tray, and it's the only program I've been able to find to actually color-code the icon based on the temperature, but I would really like if some improvements could be made to make it more useful: Allow the user to set what colors are used (background and text) for different thresholds, also set by the user. For example, I could make it green for up to 50, yellow for 51-70, orange for 71-90, and red for 91+. And to be able to set it with a transparent background and those colors for the text, or with those colors as the background and text as a different color, or whatever combination I prefer, would be a nice touch. Add an option to show a degree symbol next to the number. Add an option to close to tray (it currently can be set to minimize to tray, but if it's closed instead of minimized by accident, the tray icon goes away as well). Keep the tray icon visible when the program is displayed. Allow the tooltip to be customized to show different stats the user wants, and not those they don't. Add memory as an option for the tray icon. Allow multiple tray icons. Add a CPU power usage (W) stat and add that to the tooltip.
  16. I love the duplicate finder feature, but most of my duplicates exist in onedrive in my photo files. If I run cleaner on that folder it ends instantly. Is there a way to make it deal with onedrive and the cloud? I literally just paid $30 for this one feature and will not be fired up if it doesn't work. Hopefully there's a way! thanks!
  17. Include Edge browser

Should be right up the top of the list if you have Edge installed. Are you using the current Edge, or the beta Chromium Edge?
  18. Include Edge browser

I am new in this forum, using CCleaner Professional in Win 10 , unfortunately I do not see Edge browser in the cleaning list. It looks to me very unusual, am I actually missing something? In the browser list there is Internet Explore which is hardly used now but no Edge browser can anybody tell me the reason behind it.
  19. product update pop up ads

As per my response re the "please buy" message for free users above, we don't want to overmessage users. As you say, if someone has said "not now" to a renewal reminder then "are we there yet"ing them like a small child on a road trip is not going get anyone there any faster. The exact schedule varies - right around the expiry date you might get 2 or 3 pokes in a week, or if there is a limited-time hot offer on for new users that we want to make sure existing customers can get a piece of too. But if you're still a few weeks out then should only be once a week or fortnight. Nothing is set to show several times a week (let alone several times a day) so please be assured that this is unintended behaviour. Where users are experiencing this, it has been generally due to: Using an old CCleaner version. There was an issue for some users with overdisplay of messages that was fixed in version 5.54. Users blocking the setting of the "I've already seen this so no need to show it to me again" flag. Users who reboot their PCs multiple times per day. Are you on CCleaner 5.54 or above? If not, please see if an update solves your problem. If you are on CC5.54 or higher can you check Options > Cookies and either screenshot or right-click and Export the "Cookies to Keep" collection please?
  20. You are certainly welcome to stick around. And more than welcome to post complaints and feedback (especially with details and screenshots). That's how we improve, particularly with new products. And don't worry about being less technical - our products should be tools for both technical and non-technical users to do what they need to do ... and if they're not, then letting us know gives us more opportunities for improvement. :-)
  21. Thank you for the clarification. This, I did not know ....... info beyond my technical knowledge ..... I am confident the Dev Team is on it - no complaints here. (I don't typically get involved in forums - I will bow out now and leave it up to the experts.)
  22. For non-Acrobat users, PDF files would be associated with a browser - and it would be standard behaviour for a browser to open browser files that a user wants to open in a browser. But where there is an association with a desktop app - that's indeed a bug. (It is not uncommon for other browsers, apps, Windows, etc to put associations where users may not want them - something something feature ... but nah - it's a bug) Dev team is on the case and currently working on a solution that still works for the typical user (who will always want to read PDFs in a browser) while not creating annoyances for folks who have them associated with their preferred desktop app.
  23. product update pop up ads

I'm paying for the Professional version, and my subscription is coming due. I don't mind being reminded once a day, maybe even twice a day. But, I'm getting that large pop-up several times every day. I plan on re-subscribing, NEXT month, before the due date, so I really don't need these intrusive, annoying pop-ups, multiple times per day. I love CCleaner Pro...I think it's a marvelous tool and does what I need it to do. However, this continuous barrage of reminders is more likely to make someone annoyed enough that they DON'T re-subscribe. Please re-think this idea, and, hopefully, reduce the number of pop-ups each day to a more reasonable number.
  24. Using version 5.60.7307. I just started getting this User Account Control prompt at every login since latest update. I tried checking that box "skip user account control" but it didn't help. I can't find a "run as administrator" option. Can someone help? Thanks.
  25. After I run CCleaner, I see the recycle bin icon on my desktop still showing trash in it. I open the recycle bin...it's empty. Run CCleaner again and the trash icon disappears & shows an empty recycle bin. Looking at what was deleted on the 2nd run, nothing from the recycle bin. Tried all over again. I put a trash file in the recycle bin, run CCleaner. Results show the item was deleted from the bin. Close CCleaner, recycle bin still shows trash. When I double click on the icon, recycle bin is empty and when I close the bin the icon now shows no trash. I believe this started happening with the latest update - CCleaner Professional v5.60.7307 (64 bit). When I just empty the recycle bin WITHOUT using CCleaner the icon works ok as advertised. So it's something in CCleaner.
  26. Sometimes (I think most of it) CCleaner just doesn't open automatically on startup. The setting "Run CCleaner when the computer starts" is properly checked. This is maybe maybe not entirely related just to CCleaner because I have another program (Steam) that has this issue too (it happens more rarely though). My OS is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
  27. You may only need to uninstall the CCleaner Browser if it does this to your PDF downloads. If you do not have the same issue, no action is necessary. Note: CCleaner optimization tool otherwise works great. It only converted the file associations of PDFs on my system at the time of download of Version: v5.59.7230 (64-bit). This was corrected by one-time doing of the following:
  28. I do not like that CCleaner is doing this to what used to be PDF downloads. I guess I will have to uninstall CCleaner on my Windows 7 desktop until I have been notified that this issue has been resolved. Sad that a tool that I have used for years has this issue.

      Forum Rules

Welcome to the Piriform Forums!     In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of The Moderating Team.     1: Be respectful to all members when posting.   No flaming, personal attacks such as flaming, instigating "flame bait", verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts are not tolerated at the Piriform Forums. Such posts will be deleted on sight and moderated accordingly. If you are a long standing member, act like one.   Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be warned. Should you ignore this warning you will be banned.     2: No Warez (links) & Cracks.   Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting to get it.     3: Don't post your question under multiple topics.   Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Be sure to check the pinned topics or use the Search feature to see if your question has already been addressed. When posting, have something to say, not just "My first post!"     4: No spamming, ever!   Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.   Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.     5: Unacceptable Forum or News comments.   While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.   "Old news" or anything similar.   "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.   "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.     6: Avatars, signatures and custom user titles.   I: Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 90x90 and 50kb in size. Avatars can also be in any of these formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.   II: Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad. Signatures can be a maximum of 350x100 and 80kb in size.   III: You may have an image at the maximum of 350x100 in your signature at the standard text size and four lines of text with the image.   IV: You may have a maximum six lines of text in your signature at the standard size. Larger font sizes are allowed so long as they do not break the 350x100 limit.   V: X-Fire signatures are an exception to this rule as they only have two sizes that are preset.   VI: Advertising in your signature is strictly prohibited. Linking to a product that competes against Piriform is strictly prohibited.   VII: Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.   VIII: Inappropriate content such as Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...   IX: If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, ie. bright flashing colors, animated signatures (i.e. GIF's/Flash) Audio and Video. These are distracting for our members, so do not have audio or video in your signature.   X: Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.   XI: Do not use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.   Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. Disregarding the above rules will result in the loss of the item in violation without warning.     7: Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.   If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic of a forum, please take it to "The Lounge". The Lounge was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section. We welcome most general conversation in The Lounge, but discourage it from other forums.     8: Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.   Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of the Piriform Forum members.   Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.   For example: Oh no! | I'm mad | Please help.   This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.   A few good examples:   CCleaner crashes during the analysis | Registry issues keep reappearing after scanning with CCleaner Issues | Computer very slow to startup.     9: No alternate accounts are allowed.   Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post. Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that ability by re-registering is not tolerated.   If another account is opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.     10: Giving advice on Malware Removal.   Giving advice on the removal of Malware by any member is to be discouraged. Even though some members may believe they have the knowledge to offer some basic safe advice, it may not be the "best" advice, and could also set a precedent for any member, knowledgeable or otherwise, to do the same.   Advice should only be dispensed by a qualified Malware Removal Expert on a reputable Malware Removal Forum.   This is to prevent "wrong" advice, albeit well meaning, being given by non qualified members, which could have disastrous consequences for the original poster.   If someone asks for help on removing Malware would members please limit themselves to pointing them to one or all of the following Malware Removal Forums ...   1: BleepingComputer   2: Geeks to Go   3: MalwareBytes Malware Removal   4: Malware Removal Forum   5: Cyber Tech Help   6: Avast Malware Removal Forum     11: Inappropriate Content.   No content, or advice or requests for assistance, relating to any activity that the moderators consider to be illegal or offensive will be tolerated.     12: The Piriform Staff requires that members respect the decision of moderators.   Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants.   Reporting System: Do not abuse the report system, while we appreciate members reporting bad behavior, we don't appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at handling problems around here.   However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any Moderator or Administrator regarding action taken at the Piriform Forums.     13. Closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic:   Once an administrator or moderator has closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic it's then deemed to be a closed matter. If the member starts a new topic or posts with the same or similar unacceptable content it will result into administrative actions being taken against the member.   14. Publishing the content of Private Messages:   Please be aware that the posting of any contents of private messages (PM's) is expressly forbidden on the forum unless both parties have agreed to it.   15. Requesting help with computer issues via the pm (private messaging) system:   The pm (private messaging) system isn't to be used for requests for help with computer issues.   All requests for help must be posted in a topic on the forum where the poster will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of all members, and many others will benefit from the answers and solutions provided.   If any member (which includes moderators) wants to volunteer aid by pm after a topic has first been opened, then that's up to him or her and is perfectly acceptable.   Using the pm system as an alternative to opening a topic where everyone may benefit, isn't the correct or fair way to use that system, and could put members into the uncomfortable position of having to refuse requests for help, or worse still, being unable to refuse.   If any member is in that position, and still doesn't know what to do, then please pm one of the moderators, and they will sort it out quickly, confidentially, and in as friendly a way as possible.     Note:   Any infraction of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Piriform Forum account and will be added to your overall warning level.
