  2. History vanishes

My wife plays the Microsoft Solitaire Daily Challenge. Her progress is recorded so that every time she logs on she can see the results from previous days. Unfortunately this history vanishes after I run CCleaner. Is there a box I can untick on CCleaner which will stop this history being cleaned? We have Windows 10 and our browser is Chrome.
  3. This one is for to windows 2000 thru windows 7. The exploit is called "BlueKeep" , it exploits the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Info and download links here: https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/alerts/AA19-168A Download links for Win XP: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4500705/customer-guidance-for-cve-2019-0708 Download links for Win 7: https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-US/security-guidance/advisory/CVE-2019-0708 Edit: I just installed it on XP, no issues and no restart required.
  4. Winapp2.ini additions

    Revised Entry Changed DetectFile to Detect Removed RegKey1 & RegKey2 [Wondershare Helper Compact *] LangSecRef=3021 Detect=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact Default=False FileKey1=%CommonProgramFiles%\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact|ProductUpdateLists.xml;WSHelper.exe_temp;WSHelperSetup.exe_temp FileKey2=%CommonProgramFiles%\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact\DATADICT|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%CommonProgramFiles%\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact\Log|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%CommonProgramFiles%\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact\Temp|*.*|RECURSE
  5. files not removed

Analyze lets you know how much space will be saved and gives you an opportunity to check through just in case there is something that you might actually want to keep. Otherwise, as NukeCad said, you can just go directly to cleaning
  6. files not removed

Analyze will just look for files without deleting them, so you can see what is there to be removed. You have to use the other button 'Run Cleaner' to remove files. You don't need to analyze first, just run the cleaner. If files are not being removed then they are probably in use. Make sure that your broswer (or whatever the files are) is not running in the background.
  7. Winapp2.ini additions

I think the Clover entry is correct as it is, IIRC.
  8. files not removed

Today I ran CCleaner Free, it took an unusually long time to run, After running I did "analyze", a message appeared "Details of files to be deleted(Note: no files have been deleted yet)". It then gave a list of files to be deleted. Why didn't it remove the files? Do I have to do it manually?
  9. Winapp2.ini additions

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I think we could probably merge FileKey7+8 then: FileKey7=%CommonAppData%\Dell\Drivers\*|*.log;*.tmp|RECURSE Would that be okay with you? Thank you, but are you sure it's the same error? The entries are very old. I also checked a Winapp2.ini from 2016 and there is no dot either. I don't know if we should add the dot or not.
  10. Sorry, I'm unsure but you could always try it. TBH I think you may have hit on the reason, your Google account may be keeping your Chrome settings and active logins. As you have also run a rival cleaner without success then that would seem to point to something other than the cleaners being at fault here. You could see one cleaner having a glitch, but not two having the same glitch. It may be something that Chrome itself has changed, Google are getting somewhat notorious for hindering/stopping third-party applications working with Chrome. They say it's for security reasons, but most believe it's in order to increase their profits. https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2019/01/23/google-chrome-ad-blocker-ads-upgrade-problem-speed-slow-update/ As for being kept logged in: If you use the 'Remember Me' button when you log in then I am aware that some websites will save your logged-in status at the site itself rather than on your computer. So unless you deliberately use the 'sign-out' button before leaving the site it will log you in again next time you visit the site on the same computer, even if you have shut down in between. (Of course, they have to collect your computers unique ID to be able to cross a shutdown, but that's easily done). Again I'm not sure, but I believe that Facebook can/will do that.
  11. Winapp2.ini additions

    New entry [MiniTool Partition Wizard *] LangSecRef=3024 Default=False Detect=HKCU\Software\MiniTool Software Limited\MiniTool Partition Wizard FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\MiniTool Partition Wizard *|log.txt
  12. thanks but it shows that i am logged in to google account but sync is off.... and i never picked to save my data when i logged in. does it mean i have to log out the google account even though if sync is off??
  13. It sounds as if your Chrome may be synced. (But see below about logins). If you clear anything that is synced (Timeline, browser history, etc.) from your machine then it will just get synced back again from the cloud server. That's simply how synchronisation works - info about your activity, settings, etc. is saved in the cloud and then downloaded to your device(s) when you visit (log into) that synced service again. The software (Timeline, browser, etc.) looks at the device you are using and if the info saved in the cloud isn't on there it downloads it automatically to the device. That's how history from your PC browsing gets transferred (syncronised) to your tablet or phone and vice-versa. Unless you clear the info from the cloud server it will keep being synced back to your machine(s). And of course the cloud servers are owned by the software company(s) and they won't let 3rd party cleaners delete files from them. The only effective way to clear synced information is from within each synced application itself which can delete things from its own cloud server. This explains how to do that with Chrome: https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-clear-google-chrome-sync-data/ The gmail login may be something else. Last year google started logging you into Chrome when you logged into gmail or youtube, they may have expanded that to work the other way round as well. Here's an article about it from last year: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/24/17895536/google-chrome-69-log-in-sync-password-user-data-privacy
  14. Invalid class string

    No differences .
  15. Invalid class string

Does ir t make any difference if you right-click and select to run Speccy as admin ?
  16. Winapp2.ini additions

Ouch! It should be *.tmp. My apologies for my error. I also find that the following other modules has the same error. [Clover *] FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Clover\User Data\Default\JumpListIcons*|*tmp [HomeCinema CyberLink *] %ProgramFiles%\HomeCinema\PowerProducer\Template\Cyberlink\frame|*tmp
  17. Invalid class string

  18. It happened few days ago where I can't see my cpu and motherboard's temp. It just happened for no reason. I did update my Windows 10 to the latest version if that helps.
  19. Winapp2.ini additions

Just to be safe: Is the pattern "*tmp" correct or was the dot accidentally forgotten?
  20. defraggler has this feature --> defraggler -> settings -> boot time defrag choose 1.) disabled 2.) run once 3.) run every time
  21. Hi, I checked all the boxes in all the cleaning options in Custom Clean also in Applications where Google Chrome is. Google Chrome is closed and I run cleaning. But nothing is removed except the history. When I run Chrome I am still logged in to gmail, facebook etc. I already disabled "Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed" but still nothing at all. I tried with BleachBit even though I don`t like this software but still nothing what is wrong? please help
  22. Excuse me I gave a solution I found that worked for me that is relevant to today. I do not need lesson on English from you. What is your problem? I thought I may have helped anyone with this problem. I simply said "in Ccleaner go to tools and start Drive Wiper". As regards to your rudeness , I shall be uninstalling this website thank you
  23. Recuva Shows 0% After 2.5+ Hours

Never mind, I’m finally seeing progress after about 3.5 hours. It shows 8% progress and 2days estimated time. It still only shows 1 file found, but I’m assuming there’s more since I saw lots when I canceled the first run?
  24. could it be because you are logged on as the current user and Spotify is installed for all users? also check out running CC as administrator and see if that shows more than the usual crop.
  25. How to quick format my drive

    Duplicate thread see here
  26. So I’m trying to recover a 1TB Western Digital Elements portable hard drive. It’s showing as having bad sectors and won’t read at all in Windows Explorer. (I get an I/O error if I try to open it.). Chkdsk was unable to fix it. I partially scanned the drive with EasUS Data Recovery, which showed over 50,000 files found. I wasn’t excited about paying $70 for the full version of EasUS so I’m trying Recuva. I’m running a deep scan with checking for undeleted files. I ran it at first for 25-30 mins, but it seemed stalled, so I stopped it. It did show many files, so I started a scan again. Now after 2.5 hours, all I see is “Step 1 of 3: Scanning Drive for deleted files. Current progress: 0%, 1file(s) found. Calculating time left...” is the program actually working, or has it crashed? Should I just continue to let it run?

      Forum Rules

Welcome to the Piriform Forums!     In order to keep the forums running well and to prevent problems, please follow these simple rules for the forums. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of The Moderating Team.     1: Be respectful to all members when posting.   No flaming, personal attacks such as flaming, instigating "flame bait", verbal abuse or mocking of members in forum posts are not tolerated at the Piriform Forums. Such posts will be deleted on sight and moderated accordingly. If you are a long standing member, act like one.   Lead by example and assist other newer members rather then attacking them. Members that reply to posts simply to instigate argument will be warned. Should you ignore this warning you will be banned.     2: No Warez (links) & Cracks.   Help, requests or posts that discuss circumvention. This includes linking to illegally obtained software, movies & music files - posting about it, and suggesting to get it.     3: Don't post your question under multiple topics.   Think before posting and choose the right forum for your question or answer. Be sure to check the pinned topics or use the Search feature to see if your question has already been addressed. When posting, have something to say, not just "My first post!"     4: No spamming, ever!   Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic.   Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.     5: Unacceptable Forum or News comments.   While some members feel that post count is important, there are some posts that do not contribute to the community in any way whatsoever. Below is a list of unacceptable posts. If you wish to direct a fellow member to something that has already been posted, please do so in a courteous manner.   "Old news" or anything similar.   "(Insert product or brand) sucks" or anything similar.   "I posted this x days ago!!!" or anything similar.     6: Avatars, signatures and custom user titles.   I: Avatars are a luxury for the members to have. Avatars can be a maximum of 90x90 and 50kb in size. Avatars can also be in any of these formats: gif, jpg, jpeg, png.   II: Forum signatures are to be used respectfully, so do not annoy our members by making your signature into some sort of web ad. Signatures can be a maximum of 350x100 and 80kb in size.   III: You may have an image at the maximum of 350x100 in your signature at the standard text size and four lines of text with the image.   IV: You may have a maximum six lines of text in your signature at the standard size. Larger font sizes are allowed so long as they do not break the 350x100 limit.   V: X-Fire signatures are an exception to this rule as they only have two sizes that are preset.   VI: Advertising in your signature is strictly prohibited. Linking to a product that competes against Piriform is strictly prohibited.   VII: Custom user titles are not to be abused. Vulgarity, racism or flaming in member titles will not be tolerated.   VIII: Inappropriate content such as Pornographic, violent or otherwise offensive images, language etc. This may include racist remarks, slander etc...   IX: If the avatar/signature is overly distracting, ie. bright flashing colors, animated signatures (i.e. GIF's/Flash) Audio and Video. These are distracting for our members, so do not have audio or video in your signature.   X: Please do not include signature links of a malicious nature. Examples are those that crash your browser, trigger popup floods or emulate BSOD's.   XI: Do not use your signature to link to pages that contain objectionable material. This includes, warez, cracks, pornography, pyramid schemes, referral ID's, ebay listings and requesting personal donations.   Abusing these privileges will result in them being lost and your account being restricted. Disregarding the above rules will result in the loss of the item in violation without warning.     7: Posts in a particular forum need to stay on topic.   If you want to talk about something that is drastically removed from the topic of a forum, please take it to "The Lounge". The Lounge was set up and designed for members to discuss issues not related to a specific forum section. We welcome most general conversation in The Lounge, but discourage it from other forums.     8: Use a title that describes the content of your post. Don't use all caps or special characters to draw attention.   Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads because they will not attract attention - instead it will annoy many of the Piriform Forum members.   Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about.   For example: Oh no! | I'm mad | Please help.   This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.   A few good examples:   CCleaner crashes during the analysis | Registry issues keep reappearing after scanning with CCleaner Issues | Computer very slow to startup.     9: No alternate accounts are allowed.   Should you be disciplined with a restriction or ban, you are not allowed to open a new account to obtain freedom to post. Restrictions and bans are given for a reason, and usurping that ability by re-registering is not tolerated.   If another account is opened, that account will be banned immediately, and the original account will be further penalized. Anyone who has warnings on their account are automatically excluded from changing their user name.     10: Giving advice on Malware Removal.   Giving advice on the removal of Malware by any member is to be discouraged. Even though some members may believe they have the knowledge to offer some basic safe advice, it may not be the "best" advice, and could also set a precedent for any member, knowledgeable or otherwise, to do the same.   Advice should only be dispensed by a qualified Malware Removal Expert on a reputable Malware Removal Forum.   This is to prevent "wrong" advice, albeit well meaning, being given by non qualified members, which could have disastrous consequences for the original poster.   If someone asks for help on removing Malware would members please limit themselves to pointing them to one or all of the following Malware Removal Forums ...   1: BleepingComputer   2: Geeks to Go   3: MalwareBytes Malware Removal   4: Malware Removal Forum   5: Cyber Tech Help   6: Avast Malware Removal Forum     11: Inappropriate Content.   No content, or advice or requests for assistance, relating to any activity that the moderators consider to be illegal or offensive will be tolerated.     12: The Piriform Staff requires that members respect the decision of moderators.   Threads and posts questioning the actions or decisions of forum moderations will be deleted on sight, and the appropriate action taken (up to and including forum bans) against the thread starter and/or participants.   Reporting System: Do not abuse the report system, while we appreciate members reporting bad behavior, we don't appreciate rude comments or your opinion on how 'quick' staff are at handling problems around here.   However, as a member you reserve the right to PM any Moderator or Administrator regarding action taken at the Piriform Forums.     13. Closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic:   Once an administrator or moderator has closed or removed an unacceptable post or topic it's then deemed to be a closed matter. If the member starts a new topic or posts with the same or similar unacceptable content it will result into administrative actions being taken against the member.   14. Publishing the content of Private Messages:   Please be aware that the posting of any contents of private messages (PM's) is expressly forbidden on the forum unless both parties have agreed to it.   15. Requesting help with computer issues via the pm (private messaging) system:   The pm (private messaging) system isn't to be used for requests for help with computer issues.   All requests for help must be posted in a topic on the forum where the poster will benefit from the knowledge and expertise of all members, and many others will benefit from the answers and solutions provided.   If any member (which includes moderators) wants to volunteer aid by pm after a topic has first been opened, then that's up to him or her and is perfectly acceptable.   Using the pm system as an alternative to opening a topic where everyone may benefit, isn't the correct or fair way to use that system, and could put members into the uncomfortable position of having to refuse requests for help, or worse still, being unable to refuse.   If any member is in that position, and still doesn't know what to do, then please pm one of the moderators, and they will sort it out quickly, confidentially, and in as friendly a way as possible.     Note:   Any infraction of these guidelines will result in a warning placed against your Piriform Forum account and will be added to your overall warning level.
