also I got a message during the scan.

"You have an particulary large amount of hijacked domains, it's probably better to delete the file itself than to fix each item(and create a backup). What do I do with this?

Wow this thing is installing all kinds of junk.
First off you have two antiviruses installed.(get rid of either avast or avg your choice).

Open hijackthis and do a system scan only. Then check off all of the
O1 - Hosts: entries and then press fixed checked. Exit Hijackthis.

Your going to have to run some scans. Go to the below link and follow all the instructions:

When you come back you should have a bitdefender log, a Superantispyware log, an AVG antispyware log, and hijackthis log.

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When it's finished, it will produce a log of what it found. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply

I also want you to run a scan with adaware.

Step 2: Ad-Aware
A. Download and install Ad-Aware which can be found here:

B. The first time you open Ad-Aware it should ask you to update the definition file if this happens then allow it to do so. If not then click the globe icon in the upper right hand corner and it will prompt you to do so.
C. After the update is complete press the “scan now” button and make sure “full system scan” is checked and press “next“. Ad-Aware will begin scanning your system and all you have to do now is wait until its finished.
D. Once Ad-Aware is finished scanning press “next”. Place a check mark next to all of the detections and then press next again to remove them. If you have a lot of infections right click and choose select all objects and then press next.

Come back and post the combofix log and a new hijackthis log.(don't bother with an adaware log)

Now press "fixed checked" and reboot your computer.

After you boot back up surf around for a while(maybe 20-30min or so) and see if your computer seems back to normal. If you get any pop ups, redirects, slow down, or whatever else then come back sooner.

You still need to clear your system restore. Its better to make sure everything is good first before doing this. Your computer should be clean after making these deletions. So after that come back and tell me how things seem and I'll post the final steps.

OK I've used it for a while and it seems ok..the 888bar has disappeared from the internet explorer but it is still in the add/remove programs section.

So what do I do next?

You clear out system restore and then read a link about how to keep this from happening in the future.

To Flush the infected restore points:

Click Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > SystemRestore

Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Next goto Start Menu > Run > type

cleanmgr

Click OK, Disk Cleanup will open and start calculating the amount of space that can be freed, Once thats finished it will open the Disk Cleanup options screen, click the More Options tab then click Clean up on the system restore area and choose Yes at the confirmation window which will remove all the restore points except the one we just created.

Yes, I would advise you to run ccleaner every now and then.
It will keep your computer free of lots of junk. Plus it will clear any viruses that may sneek into your temp files.

Keep the antispyware programs and maybe update/scan with them from time to time to make sure nothing slips in. I highly suggest you take a look at the link I posted in my last post and read into spyware blaster/host file/ and others so that you can prevent infections rather then spend hours cleaning them up.

You just have a lot of stuff running.(your running avg antivirus and norman antivirus? If your norman antivirus is still up to date uninstall avg).

If you run windows update a few times and get all the updates available, come back and post a new hijackthis log afterwards and I will help you cut down on some of those processes.
