Have you tried disabling norton firewall?

Does NAV have a firewall? And if so how can he disable it?

We already have the windows firwall off and it still messes up.

eh maybe not. I saw so many norton entries I just figured you had the whole suite. I dont see anything running that would keep the pc from connecting to the net.

Does the pc dial in and everything correctly? Maybe try hooking it up at a different line(you said you have two right)?

HE can sometimes get online with his pc, Infact he was just able to look at his back statment. Then NAV poped up with a update popup and POOF then IE went to Page Not Found Error. And i don't think he has the whoel thing Just NAV.

Disablethat then, see if that fixes it. If it dioes, uninstall it and all the things it comes witgh, and get etrust; http://www.my-etrust.com/microsoft/

OK guys and gals this is what i'm asking for.

I need help to get my dads pc IE to connect with the net. He has been able to go to a few sites and all, but other sites will not come up. ITS NOT NAV as we have uninstalled it and it still did it. We have tryed to get to web sites with IE, The newest Firefox, and with Netscape. ALL failed to load up, please please Let me know if you have anthing that might help restore FULL IE INTERNET ACCESS.

I suggest you call your ISP and get them to help you sort it out. Its not spyware related so dont let them try to tell you thats what it it.

I think either there is a setting somewhere thats wrong ect. The problem is their isnt a way for us to do anything.

Possible reasons:

* If using a dial-up connection with an ISP that doesn't require software open the Network Connections and remove the connection to the ISP and then re-create a new connection. Note: Don't do this if your ISP uses software to connect to the Internet e.g.; AOL, Netscape, NetZero, etc.

* ISP software (AOL, Netscape, NetZero, etc.) isn't functioning correctly and needs to be uninstalled followed by a system restart, and then reinstalled.

* Installed software-based firewall is improperly configured, mistakenly set to block everything, or is malfunctioning and blocking too much (e.g. Sygate Personal Firewall is known to do this). Temporarily disable the software-based firewall in its configuration/settings, and then enable the Windows XP Firewall (called Internet Connection Firewall on SP1) and then restart the computer. Now see if that was the reason.

* Windows HOSTS file has sites listed in it that aren't inputted correctly. Sample of a properly inputted blocked site:
127.0.0.1 ihateadbanners.com

* Web browsers are set to use a proxy server/ad filtering software that isn't running, or that isn't configured correctly.

* System hasn't been restarted in a long time and has something that isn't responding, restart Windows to see if that's the cause.

Ok many thanks, We will atempt to uninstall the softwear dailer program, But my dad was saying even using the non dailer software it was still messing up.

I'm currently downloading a new version of the dailer program for my dad, and i hope it wirks. Also he has no firewall services as he got rid of them, and has none of the so-called dail up internet accelerators. He DID have Zone alarm for a while and i delete it from his pc, I deleted it off as the uninstall would not work.

OK We uninstalled , restarted, reinstalled Iglide and it still does not work. I even tryed winsockfix and that did not work. Please I need help getting this working. As the ISP company says this is the phone companys fault, BUT the phone is blaming the isp or blamming it on line work in the area as there working to get DSL in the area.

So any other suggestions form you guys and gals would be nice as this is day 4 and my dads getting upset at it.

To me it sounds like you either have a bad isp or a crappy phone company nither of which we can help you with.

I just fixed a problem with connections caused by Nortons Worm Protection! I am using Qnext and at the bottom I had solid connections with Qnext, MSN, AIM, and Yahoo messengers, but at the top next to my UID just recently started seeing a RED Light (blocked connections) next to my UID

I noticed it by checking out the Norton Anti Virus Log. I then added the QnextClient to the Program Control Under the Worm Protection.
