I am trying to restore my system to a time several weeks ago. should be no problem. I have tried several times but still always the same result: system not restored, no changes made. my local settings\history\desktop.ini 145 bytes is always showing on my ccleaner. think i have a BOT. AV scans don't show anything. trying to restore to go to a time before BOT warnings. used dialafix already. this does not seem to work with IE8. anyone know what to do, or having similar restore problems? Since the new restore function on ccleaner, i have not been able to restore to this particular point.

Have you tried booting into safe mode and running system restore from there?
