I've started using this from a quicklaunch shortcut, and it's a damn sight better tool than the "Safely Remove Hardware" system tray effort, which disconnects my broadband every time I use it.

Thanks for the headsup Ken.

I had not thought about having a shortcut in Quick Launch but that's a good idea.

Now if I could only figure out why the Quick Launch keeps disappearing after a reboot on this XP Pro system.

So you've got the same problem as the guy in that other topic. It's a strange one.

If I come across anything I'll post it.

Just downloaded this -- have not used it before. It display a few USB things that are no longer active on my system. So, what happens when you right-click one of those items and choose: "Uninstall Selected Device?"

It disappears.

It is good for removing Flash card information on devices that are not connected at the time.

Review USBDeview Columns Description in http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

Guess I was wondering if it just removed the item from the list, or if it uninstalled some old drivers -- or something like that.
YoKenny
It does not remove any drivers as all it does is removes the device information that is stored in the USB area of the registry.

Have you tried looking in the registry location mentioned in post 4 here and seeing what your userinit contains?

I tried it all except for purchasing TaskbarRepairToolPlus! for $5.00

I guess if I become frustrated enough and I have the money at the end of the month I'll purchase it.
What is real frustrating is that it seems is that the only setting it won't let me change without purchasing it. blink.gif

Winter is here!
-17C with snow flurries.

I checked my one and only credit card that I rarely use I have and it had the $5.00 in it so I requested an activation key and I just received it and it works. cool.gif

I am going to fire up the external hard drive and save the email on it.

-19C heading for -7C with snow flurries today.
Only 4 more months until nicer weather.

Don't suppose you monitored what it did too let us know what the actual fix did?
