So, I'm leaving him this message, and I just want to make sure that nothing that he uninstalls will 'cripple' his computer (it's a Compaq Presario v5000). The list of garbage is rather long, and I don't actually expect anyone to read through all of it, though someone saying, 'everything looks good,' is always encouraging smile.gif.

The original list of programs that CCleaner produced is at the bottom, the first half is just the stuff I would remove if it were mine tongue.gif.

Here's all the junk that you have installed on your laptop.  I would remove a lot, and then defrag overnight.  That's the best performance increase you can get....  aside from the RAM that you don't want to buy :].

Slightly OTT I think (just because you would remove something doesn't mean he doesn't have a good reason for having it). And you missed one, he's got two versions of Java installed, not even the most recent, so needs to install the latest version and remove the two old versions. With that many Windows updates and hotfixes I'd probably also suggest CCleaners hotfix uninstaller cleaning, but only if the system is stable.
And you told him to uninstall Opera AND Firefox, why?

Er, I didn't mean to leave Firefox on the 'uninstall' list. Just a mistake tongue.gif. Yeah I understand your point but the majority of his stuff is useless, and he's running low on HDD space anyhow.

CCleaner's hotfix uninstaller cleaning? I haven't heard of that. I'll look for it.

Its in the cleaners advanced section and will clear a considerable amount of space with the amount of updates he has listed, but will mean any Windows Updates will not be able to be uninstalled, hence why I said only if the system is stable.
Also uninstalling the old Java versions will clear 100Mb or so wink.gif
