I use Foxfire & Thunderbird exclusively. I never have problems with viruses or spyware because of Mozilla and the software recommended here. Do I still need to update Windows?

Thats a big BIG YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main reason people get viruses in the first place is that they don't keep their systems up to date.
Using firefox will help a little, but upates are the most important.
