Such a device would probably result into a lawsuit if someone was to even accidentally bump into the car.
Of course there's always another trick; a quick disconnect transmission and the car wouldn't go anywhere, unless someone cut a hole in the floor and drove it Flintstones style.

You wouldnt believe what these auto thieves can do. In my city we have a massive auto theft problem. Most of the perpetrators are between 12 and 17. They figured out how to beat ford,gm and chryslers best technology in an instance. They can steal a car in under 30 seconds and can beat pretty much any technology in existence.
Yesterdays newspaper (and i see the inside reports, etc.) has ONE family of teenagers that have racked up over 200 auto related crimes. vandalism, theft, attempted theft, joy riding, etc. and these kids just keep going.
then they go to jail, teach others the same techniques, get out in a short time, and then the problem compounds.
these kids can't even properly take care of themselves, but they can steal cars as good or better than any hollywood movie.
