It seems that there's a lot of Lop.AS threads here, but that the end results on what files to delete varies depending on what's wrong and what's infected, so I thought I would start my own thread on this.

AVG keeps finding trojan horse Lop.AS, I heal, it comes back. I move it to the virus vault, it comes back. Not to mention I've scanned my computer 4 times in the past two days and each time a new virus or trojan is found. It's somewhere off in the IE temp files, which is odd because I use Firefox. Anyway, the following is my HJT log:

Thanks in advance for anyone who's willing to help me get rid of this, and other things that are probably wrong with my system based on this log. It's much appreciated. I have seen the NewdotNet files around, but I can't get rid of them. I can only assume they're one of the problems with my computer.

Download Superantispyware
  • Load Superantispyware and click the check for updates button.
  • Once the update is finished click the scan your computer button.
  • Check Perform Complete Scan and then next.
  • Superantispyware will now scan your computer and when its finished it will list all the infections it has found.
  • Make sure that they all have a check next to them and press next.
  • Click finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
  • Click Preferences and then click the statistics/logs tab. Click the dated log and press view log and a text file will appear.
  • Copy and paste the log onto the forum.

Post the superantispyware log and a new hijackthis log.

Lets try one more spyware scan to clean up any remnants. :)

Download AVG Anti-Spyware
  • Load AVG antispyware and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Click on the Scanner tab at the top and then click on Complete System Scan
  • Ewido will list any infections found on the left, when the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. AVG antispyware will then display "All actions have been applied" on the right.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file which you can then save to the Desktop and post back
Note that this is not AVG antivirus but the program formally known as Ewido.

Post the avg antispyware scan report and a new hijackthis log.

Ok I want you to scan again with AVG Antispyware and set all of the things it finds to delete instead of ignore.
Then I want you to clear your system restore because your points are infected.
To Flush the infected restore points:

Click Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > SystemRestore

Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Next goto Start Menu > Run > type

cleanmgr

Click OK, Disk Cleanup will open and start calculating the amount of space that can be freed, Once thats finished it will open the Disk Cleanup options screen, click the More Options tab then click Clean up on the system restore area and choose Yes at the confirmation window which will remove all the restore points except the one we just created.

------

Post a new hijackthis log and let me know how your system seems to be running.(any more alerts, pop ups, ect)

The system runs a bit laggy now. Text takes longer to show up, and it just over-all seems more slower.

Nevermind, a reboot cleaned the speed up.

I'm still finding the Internet Explorer hijacker, as well as other malware that keeps poping up.

Run Kaspersky WebScanner
  • Please go HERE and click Kaspersky Online Scanner
  • Read and Accept the Agreement
  • You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • If you see a Windows dialog asking if you want to install this software, click the Install button.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files,
  • When the "Update progress" line changes to "Ready" and the "NEXT ->" button becomes available, please click on it.
  • Click on the Scan Settings button, and in the next window select the Extended database, and click Ok.
  • Under "Please select a target to scan:", click My Computer to start the scan.
  • When the scan is finished, click the "Save as Text" button, and save the file as kavscan.txt to your Desktop, close the Kaspersky On-line Scanner window.
  • Paste kaspersky log onto forum.

I went to the site, clicked on the scanner. A window poped up with the disclaimer and I clicked I Agree. The next screen came up, and a little box dropped down from the top of the window asking me if I wanted to install the kavwebscan. So I click the box, click on Install ActiveX Control. The screen goes blank for a few seconds, then returns me back to the disclaimer, but without any buttons on the bottom. I'm using IE 7 as the buttons don't show up with firefox.

Alright well I guess were not going to be using that scan then.
We will try another approach. :)

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/...rweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply.

(scan, check it off from the list, press fix checked)

How does the pc seem? Still having problems?
