This is Cowboy's wife - a peer at work sent me a file that I was unable to open, according to my laptop because I don't have the program to open it - I questioned her (briefly) and she said it was a very cool MicroSoft program where you tell it what you need to get gone it and in what time frame, and it makes a schedule for you??? Anyone ever hear of such a thing? And, if so, what the heck is it, and should I get it??? Thank you in advance for any info you can give me!! Mrs. Cowboy!!
MicroSoft Program?

This sounds like Gantt chart, it's part of Microsoft Excel. We use them quite a bit at work for projects.
IMO they are a complete pain in the neck, but they can keep track of projects when your work in a large team.

If it is an Excel spreadsheet, Excel should open it but it may not function properly without add-ins (Tools > Add-Ins) since some advanced date functions are not part of the default installation.
It could also be a Microsoft Project file.
