Sometimes Windows Xp takes forever to start. Not totally sure but it seems it's after cleaning with Ccleaner. It's not an important inconvenience but it's intriguing. Has somebody a suggestion ?

I doubt that its ccleaner causing your computer to slow down. Its more likely that you recently got a virus or spyware infection that could be slowing you down.
Download and install hijackthis found here:
http://www.thespykil...es/HJTSetup.exe
Then open it up and choose to scan and save log file. Hijackthis will do a quick scan of your system and then a text file will appear in notepad. Paste that log onto the forum.
If it is virus/spyware related we can help you get cleaned up and if its not maybe we will be able to see what could be slowing you down.

You should probably make a separate thread in the Hijackthis forum, plus move this thread to the software forum, since this has absolutely nothing to do with CCleaner
Try using the StartupCPL
www.mlin.net
You can also use the Software Explorer within Windows Defender to monitor your startup programs.

He thought that ccleaner is what caused his problem so it does have something to do with ccleaner.
Once he posts back or we get it resolved I'll move this to the hjt section.

Sorry I posted in the wrong forum.
Excuse my clumsy english, never tought Ccleaner caused the problem (I used Ccleaner for several years without any problem) but thought Ccleaner revealed a problem. T'was like Ccleaner deleted something which had to be "reconstructed" before Windows could start, maybe also just a coincidence.
Here's the

I'm sure now after about two weeks CCleaner is totally innocent :-)
I think my computer is "clean" now : no more adware, spyware, trojans, aso.
Changed my AV, reinstalled ZoneAlarm.
But still have the same problem from time to time. Xp takes one minute more to start and the boot sequence seems to be different (usually the Wacom tablet driver loads first, but in the case of a longer start it loads at the end).
But nothing else seems wrong and I can live with this little inconvenience.
