Ok, I don't get it. It's wonderful but wrong. I have downloaded 5.17GB of music by using Utorrent lastest version and should I feel bad? I mean it's free right. Surely I believe it's a bad thing to do but why isn't the Goverment doin anything about it instead of the FBI or... whaever going out and pushing down on those who have downloaded the most.

Its actually funny. Ok, we all know Artist are loosing some amounts of money due... to this downloading since the year of 2000 I believe. Is it considered wrong or right?

actually, they cant find the people that download the most nor do they care to capture them.
its the people that are uploading the most that they're going after.

Assuming you live in the US then someone is doing something. They are just going about it the wrong way.(RIAA)

Should you feel bad? Thats your call, I can honestly say I don't download illegal music. But I won't say that its because I would feel bad about it.

1. I like buying cds and getting all the packaging, artwork, lyric booklet/whatever else comes in the case.

2. One of the biggest way to get infected is through p2p, true bittorent is not quite as bad yet as say kazaa but I'm sure it won't be long before viruses start becoming rampant with the torrent downloads.

3. Its a hassle. A lot of the times the songs are not what they claim to be, or they are such low quality you cant really do anything with them.

4. Its illegal and I don't wanna get sued. (not so much the sued part but I try to obey laws. )

I do however like to download live concerts. I don't download whole shows but just thing like when an artist will cover another's songs or when they have a guest appearance, acoustic set or any other cool rare performance. From what I understand thats not illegal as long as no one makes any money. I could be dead wrong though.

i doubt anyone knows for sure right now, its being debated in many court rooms.
the debate is about if its illegal to download it or not.
and if not, its illegal to make money off of it.
they're going after those people too.

Yeah I could undersatnd that. I have a TON of Nine Inch Nails live concert songs. But I'm saying I feel bad here lol. But just as long as I don't get caught I'm good cause I can't even Imagine my 19yr old self goin to jail. I still have long life ahead of me and I have a GF who deeply loves me for who I am and what I do in my life. I've stopped downloading and have completely cleared the history of any used and any unfinished torrent.

What concerts me though are the bands who truly care for what they do. Intead of those caring for money, They go on caring for the fans annd for the music they play. I believe that is why some people download music off P2P or Utorrent based Apps.

I guess if I was a famous rock singer and someone was stealing my songs it might make me mad... I mean its their job/means to support themselves. If a carpenter built you a house you couldn't move in and then refuse to pay.

I know people that will sit in front of their computer for days just downloading music. I would rather research the artists/music and then go buy it. When I listen to music I like to know the story behind it. Its how you know whats real and whats fake, whats good music and whats crap.

I haven't downloaded any concerts/live songs in a long time. Now the best resource to use to see all that stuff is youtube. Some of the coolest stuff gets posted on there. I don't see the point in searching the net when I can just find it at youtube.

i like to download a song every once and a while.
i dont see why i would go buy a cd if i only like one song on there.

I have an account on Youtube but at times the site can be slow. Now on Mypsace they have some pretty good look ups on live concerts from Screamo band of underOATH to layed back Garth Brooks

uTorrent is actually very useful for downloading large files such as OpenOffice (there's an official torrent for it) and other files, i.e., movies such as Done The Impossible, a great fan-made documentary about the Firefly TV series and movie Serenity (which are VERY good, highly recommended)

BitTorrent is just a protocol (well, there is a client a company with the same name too ), and uTorrent and others are clients which allow sharing of files on top of that network. It is widely used for to spread legal files such as ISO images of Linux distributions, etc.

Some use it for share copyrighted stuff too such as music, movies, software.

Music and videos are not only products to be produced, sold, consumed. They are also works of arts and part of culture too!
I think that it is ridiculous that it is illegal to download a song or a movie that is 20 years old, or even not after the author of the work have deceased.

It is wrong to make money of other peoples work (without their consent), by downloading, burning then selling. But I don't think it is wrong to download some stuff for private use for only you to enjoy. And I don't think its wrong for me to make a copy of a CD that I bought so that my cousin can enjoy it too.
