This concerns CCleaner v1.31.325 running on Win98SE and IE v6.

One of the consequences of updating PCPITSTOP OPTIMIZER was the complete disappearance of all programs in the Settings: Add/Remove box. No idea of cause/cure. As to the latter, I am particularly trying to avoid Safe Mode System Restore as being beyond my competence and because of my general apprehension.

Assuming there's no harm in leaving that box empty, I'd like to know whether the CCleaner Tool selection is a acceptable/useful substitute? It is for UNINSTALLING chosen programs from its list; INSTALLING can continue to be done at Add/Remove, or by using the Install directions of the desired program.

Will welcome all comments and help.
