From the pictures, it looks like the exploding object was the battery, located under the laptop, since the screen and stuff isn't quite so damaged. Recall notice, anyone?

Imagine calling Dell to get an RMA number for that:
Um yeah my f***ing laptop exploded, I need a new one.

Yeah, I saw this story some days ago.

It wasnt like TNT, but it was pretty strong explosive force anyways...
That could make some physical damage to a person using the computer or standing around it.

Still, I find it a bit suspicious when something like this happens and someone just happens to shoot some pictures of it. <_<
