Hello, there has been a worm installing its self on my pc and on automatic updates
it downloads the same PAckage installer over and over when i restart.

The worm appears to be using the name svchost.exe which is also a genuine and essential Microsoft file, you have a svchost.exe running from the Documents and Settings folder but the genuine svchost.exe should only be running from the Windows\System32 folder so its likely to be infected.

Can you send me a sample of the file first as Id like to check what it is and see if it causes damage in other area's.

Please download Suspicious file Packer from Safer-Networking.Org and unzip it to your desktop.

Run SFP.exe.

Please copy the following lines into the Step 1: Paste Text window:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\svchost.exe

then click "Continue".

Please email the created .cab file on your desktop (named requested-files[Date/Time].cab) to AndyManchesta@hotmail.com.


You have Hijack This in the temp folders so it needs moving as Hijack This creates backups of everything thats fixed and if is in the temp folders you will lose the backups if you clear the temp files anytime. Its easier to goto Add/Remove screen (Start Menu > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs) and remove Hijack This then download it again from Here and save it to c:\drive.


Can you shut down Spybot's Teatimer before starting as it may interfere with the Hijack This fix. Right click the TeaTimer icon in the system tray and choose Exit Spybot S&D Resident. It will restart when you reboot the pc.


Run Hijack This and choose Do A System Scan then place a check next to this entry

O4 - Global Startup: svchost.exe

Close all open browser and other windows except for Hijack This and press the Fix Checked button

Delete this file: (Only delete the svchost.exe file from this folder)

Next download Ewido Anti-Malware from HERE

• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard"
  
• From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  
• After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"),
  
• Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click Complete System Scan.

If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. You can select Remove and check the boxes Perform action with all infections and Create encrypted backup before clicking on OK.
When the scan finishes, click on Save Report. This will create a text file that you can save to the desktop and post back


Finally run Panda Activescan from Here.

Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan
(Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When the download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location so you can post it back.


Can you send the file if possible and post back the Ewido and Pandascan log
