Yes their are free burning programs that are good.

I like burnatonce

To make it burn dvds look here:

http://www.burnatonce.com/index.htm?faq

You could also try cd burner xp pro as well. This one is more like nero but its also kind of bloated where burnatonce is lean and built for speed and simplicity.

There's also DeepBurner Free. I think it's unfarely labeled as adware as it doesn't phone home and only displays a couple of small ad's to upgrade to DeepBurner Pro. Note: I tested it and it can't create gapless audio CD's, well at least it couldn't on my two systems, however there's Burrrn for creating only audio CD's.

i like CDR with Graphical front end ;)

fast, good and he never fails (for now :D)

If you like that than I'd recommend another product based on CDRTools (CDRTFE)...try it here

I would like to point out that I have recently started having problem with that (new incompatable burner) and have swtich to O.N.E.S. here I have never had any problems with that and like it very much. It is not freeware but very cheap and very small in size, unlike nero

there's a way that you can cheat nero into burning it if you install a demo. if you use foobar2000, you can get the foo_burninate plugin and dl a demo version of Nero 7. after it expires, you can still write to a CD. i tried it a few days ago and it burned an audio cd in less than a min.

AVS Disc Creator FREE looks promising, it is the first freeware with blue-ray support.

AVS also provide the best easy-to-use freeware AVS DVD player. I say, great job AVS.

I'll be checking this one out for myself! It sounds good, I hope it is.

Just a note to anyone attempting to download it, go to the download page and click the direct download link, if you don't you'll end up downloading the wrong app.

Thanks to TheTOM_SK for recommending AVS Disc Creator!

I tried AVS Disc Creator and one word sums it up; awesome!

I uninstalled Sonic RecordNow in favour of this lil beauty, and Burnatonce may go the same route, e.g.; being uninstalled!

BTW, I added a winapp2.ini cleaning routine for AVS Disc Creator logs which are rather hefty if left unchecked. I also added it to the freeware software thread here.

Nero is a useful software...if you use the whole package it will be a very good software if you just use the burning tool than i can say there are some freeware better than nero one...

I use Nero Express 6 mostly for burning, but I have not found a freeware, that would allow to copy a disc on HDD, like image. I use .nrg images as backups. :(

cdburnerxp pro can create image files, it creates .ISO image files.

Alternatives to Nero?

I suppose Augustus was good because he was the first.

Diocletian I like because he appeared in a second season episode of Inspector Gadget in 1985.

Gellius Maximus, Pupienus Maximus, Magnus Maximus, Just Plain Maximus, and Petronius Maximus are great because they have the word "Maximus" in their name.

Damn literalists. Okay, I admit, I was rolling.

I've been playing around with that AVS Disc Creator, and it gets my vote as well. And how cool is Blu-Ray support?!

Save a tree, eat a beaver.

Save a tree, wipe with an owl.

Every time a bell rings, a thread gets hijacked!

ding, ding!

Give Andavari lots of money and maybe even consider getting K a DVD-RW drive.

If it's not Scottish, IT'S CRAP!!!

But i was at their forum.. it's spammed with porn ads..

just wondering where one can download this program.. and if it will work with Windows ME.. and how well?

Found some Burnatonce download.. Is this one still the latest? (Hmm.. 2004)

burnatonce 0.99.5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Author: Jamie Osborne

Date: 2004-04-17

Size: 3.8 Mb

License: Freeware

Requires: Win All

burnatonce is designed to write your cds quickly and with minimum fuss. The interface is simple, fast to use, yet powerful and is not cluttered with any wizards or cuddly animated characters. Unfortunately this means that less experienced users may initially need to consult this help file along with the excellent cdrfaq to get started.

burnatonce can be used to write existing images which are in cue/bin, toc/dat or iso format as well as compiling data and audio cds from various files.

Many burner programs no longer run well/at all on WIN98 based machines. Then again some burners won't work well either on anything but the latest generation of 2000 or XP. Read the requirements and go with them. I do not accept that machines running under 1 GigaHertz with minimal RAM will actually handle the current generation of software/hardware.

With that said, I have gotten away completely from both Nero and Roxio products. The choice of a nearly free or low cost burning program is Ashampoo Burning Studio and their Music editor. Work like a charm and are well supported. Another thing is that this product does NOT have a drag and drop add-on like DLA or InCD.

Just my experience and observations.

Happy New Year All!

Burnatonce may give you a migraine headache if you aren't using at least Windows 2000 or it may not work at all, I wouldn't recommend it on Win9x/Me systems! ;)

DeepBurner Free however works flawlessly on Win98, I didn't have WinMe to test it on though.

Thanks for your reply...

What about that Deep Burner (FREE one) .. and me reading somewhere.. that it's adware.. or something like that...

Is it adware?

Thanks for your reply
