Program Hangs

Using Windows XP Home. program hangs 2/3 way across progress bar and end task is only way out. Grateful for any ideas.

Maybe your computer is too full of crap.

Try uncheck some stuff to clean, then clean again.
You can clean one thing at a time, maybe that helps.

Does CCleaner actually stop, or does the progress bar just stop moving? Check your tower to see if there is any hard drive activity while CCleaner is cleaning. If there is (and there should be a lot of it), then CCleaner is still merrily chugging along, and like Eldmannen said, you just have a lot of crap.

Thank you for the advice which was spot on - although I have been using previous versions on a regular basis and have got used to speedy cleaning it was the crap in the AVG folder that appeared to be the problem.
