Now I wasn't able to open it up; it opened and closed right away.
I now see an ewido icon next to my norton icon that says "ewido ant-malware-guard active". When I
right click on the ewido icon next to norton icon is has real time protection and automatic updates checked. Also has an option to shutdown guard and Launch main program. Again when I click to Launch main program it opens up and closes right away.
It just did an update with me doing anything.
Can someone tell me what's going on here as I am not sure how ewido is suppose to work or not work.
Is Ewido working and let it be?

when you right click on Ewido in your task bar and it shows that the guard is active thats ok as so is realtime protection and automatic updates being ticked.thats why it updated without you doing anything.
Can you open the main program from anywhere else? have you managed to do a scan at all?

Andavari, I'm not clear on what you are suggesting.
I don't know what safe mode is and honestly don't know what you are suggesting.

To boot in safe mode : as soon as you turn your computer on repeatedly press F8 on your keyboard it will come up with the minimal programs, then use your arrows to get to ewido then do a scan if possible

incy wincy as soon as the computer turned on I pressed the f8 repeatedly then a window came up.
It got stuck , I wasn't able to use the up and down arrow keys to make a selection.
I'll try it agin.
What selection are you saying to choose from the screen?
And if I choose do I have to so anything else, I'm an amateur and don't want to mess anything up.

Abox will come up asking you to choose safe mode or restore press yes for safe mode, the screen will go black (dont worry) your icons should start to appear you can then move your mouse to Ewido open and choose scan.
