alvordrw
After installing Firefox 16 today on Windows XP, I ran the latest CCleaner (version 3.23), and then backed-up Firefox data files using the "Winmerge" utility to synchronize files and directories. I was surprised by a directory that unexpectantly appeared on the comparison screen, ie "thumbnails". Specific path is "\\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx\thumbnails". CCleaner had not removed the content (.png thumbnails) or the directory. The "thumbnails" directory is adjacent to the "Cache" directory that CCleaner usually removes entirely. Suggestion: please investigate, and determine if "thumbnails" needs be removed in the same manner as "Cache". Thank you
TheWebAtom
It seems there is currently some important stuff kept inside that folder. It's worth reading the issue over at Bugzilla. I'm Shane.

Moderators Nergal Posted October 10, 2012 Moderators Share Posted October 10, 2012 my guess is these should be covered in some way in the next ccleaner ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Moderators hazelnut Posted February 5, 2013 Moderators Share Posted February 5, 2013 Why not just set the FF pref as suggested in that thread? about:config browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled and set it to 'true'.
