:unsure:All of a sudden, with no provocation from me, I am unable to copy and paste. I can copy but not paste. This happens in Word, Windows Mail, internet explorer, Firefox and anywhere else I have tried. I switched my mouse out to another one and still have the problem. Any Ideas out there?? I am running Windows 7 6 4

You have 3 threads going on in this section all showing problems with your system.

We need to first discount the fact that you have any virus/malware on your machine.

I strongly recommend you follow the advice in this post first before trying any other fixes.

Lucky, in addition to Hazelnut's suggestion, u can also try the following after you have ensured you have a full & working backup of all important things before beginning.

1) CClean your PC, then reboot (how long has it been since you rebooted?) Try it again. If still not working,
2) Reduce your startup items & reboot. If still not working,
3) With PC off, open the case. Q-tip the CPU/GPU/PSU/Case fanes & blow clean. Remove q-tips, close case, power on. If still not working,
4) Run System Restore utility to a prior time where everything worked.
_____

Alternatively, if your having an emergency, try this:

CTRL + C for Copy
CTRL + P for Paste

Or, use Edit/Copy & Edit/Paste menu on the menu bar of your application. Sometimes other C&P methods work, even when mouse C & P doesn't.
_____

* 1) Because? Windows, especially on low RAM systems, may start to act funny with long periods between a reboot. Reboot may fix this.
* 2) Because? Tons of startup items may use all your RAM, causing similar to above. Or cause conflicts between programs. Reboot after changing startup.
* 3) Because? Overheating can cause lockups/problems in applications. Cleaning the PC can help fix this.
* 4) Because? It restores parts of Windows to prior states. Can fix some problems.

Let us know what fixes it for you. Thanks!

Just a small correction: the keyboard shortcut for Paste is Ctrl+V.
