There was some other av scanner awhile back, well maybe a few years ago that had some sort of a problem with RAR archives, especially malformed ones which were intentially used to harm a system -- something about just scanning the files alone could cause a system-wide infection or data destruction.

I don't like it when something as good as the RAR archive format get's put into some other companies failings/shortcomings, sort of like how UPX unjustly get's bad publicity just because malware writters compress their malicious software.
Complexity of incoherent design.
