I'm a new CCleaner user for the past 2 weeks.
My practice has been to run, several times a day, in sequence: Spybot, Ad-Aware, CounterSpy, and the online free scan by PestPatrol. Habitually, the first three would catch something every day, typically around 6 to 8 per day.
I now run CCleaner every 10 minutes on my computer, using Window's Scheduler. CCleaner's scans are so fast that I can afford to do them every few minutes.
Now that I'm running CCleaner, the above anti-spyware programs are not detecting anything.
Any comments on the effectiveness of CCleaner as an anti-spyware software? or have I just had a good run for a few weeks?
As a precaution, I'll keep to the above practice, but it's getting pretty boring with those software not finding anything these days.

rozp,
It seems a bit drastic to be using your spyware and ccleaner prog so many times a day. If you think you have a malware related problem it might be an idea to post a log in the hijack this thread of this forum.
Otherwise may I suggest you download and use

as your choice of virus protection.

Hazlenut is right your scanning way to much. The programs you have now are fine but their are a few ways to prevent infection so that you dont have to scan so much.
First download spyware blaster. Install it and update it. Then make sure you apply the protection. That will greatly reduce how much spyware you get.

Then start using Firefox as your browser. That will eliminate a lot of spware as well.

To make sure your clean post a hijack this log for me to look at.
As far as scanning goes I only scan my pc maybe every two weeks or every month.

You can scan how many times you want, but you are scanning/cleaning way more than need. You should get to the root of the problem, and try to get rid of the spyware once and for all, and after that keep the system clean and not let it get infected again.
CCleaner cleans old unused registry entries, cookies and other things. It is useful has a privacy tool. But is not really intended as a tool to get rid of spyware.
