Every time I open internet explorer I get a pop up that wants to send a report to microsoft. I read all the links and it says that is sends all the data from my computer, even my documents. My computer is very old and I am running windows 98. I was getting the blue screen of death and reloaded the whole thing, I hardly got finished and now this problem. I ran the ccleaner, updated the AntiVir and ran it. I am running spyware blaster, have outpost firewall. I downloaded Adaware last night and when I tried to run it the first time I got the blue screen again. I ran it this morning and deleted everything it found. Scanned with HJT and didn't find anything suspicious there. Is this microsoft thing legit or spyware?
Thanks

I'm not sure what the pop up is. Please take a screenshot of it and upload it to the forum.

If you dont know how to make a screenshot all you have to do is press prt scr and then open up paint and press CTRL+V. Then save it as a .jpg and upload it here:

The prt scr doesn't work. I tried the old keyboard too and nothing.
Best I can do is tell you about it.

Microsoft internt explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were working on something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve microsoft internet explorer. We will treat this response as confidential and anonymous.
To see what data this error report contains, click here
send error report don't send
It is set to restart internet explorer so if I click on the don't send link the window is closed and then reopens immediately and the box pops up again. I checked the links to see what they send but it is all greek to me and I couldn't copy it. It takes you to this page [URL=http://oca.microsoft.com/en/dcp20.asp] I read the page and decided that I didn't want the information sent to microsoft but I can't get rid of the pop up. Some pages I visit, like this forum, I don't have a problem but I can't open any of the pages on my desktop, internet explorer, or if I am on a website I can read the first page but as soon as I click a link to go to a second page there's the ruddy pop up again. It is very frustrating.

I did get the image on the site where you wanted it. I wasn't following your directions properly the first time. I can't look at the thing because as soon as I clicked to open it the pop up was back.
Sorry. I'll try harder to follow what you tell me.

I uploaded the picture to the website but the pop up came up and closed the window. Can't seem to do anything with it. I tried restoring a snapshot from spywareblaster but it didn't change anything. All I can see to do now is to reload my computer again.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Sorry for the slow reply. That message is perfectly legit. IE is crashing and wants to send an error report to MS to see whats causing the crash. My suggestion is to check for updates and maybe try to reinstall IE.

What I really would do is switch to firefox or opera. They have more features, are faster, and much more customizable. The main reason for switching is that they are more secure from spyware and adware as well.

Opera

Firefox

Thanks for the help. I did send the error report but the pop up still wouldn't go away. I had to reload and everything is working okay now.
My computer is 6 years old and only has 63MB or Ram and is a celeron. Barely runs. Would I even be able to use firefox on here? I am not very computer literate. Would I have to take IE off to use firefox?
One of these days I'm gonna get a new computer......not going to hold my breath though cuz I don't look all that good in blue!
Thanks again.

No you do not get rid of IE(you still need it and removing it causes problems). Firefox uses less resources than IE.
