So is it worth getting then, despite the deals they have been doing with spyware companys?

It's up to you if you want to use MSAS or not. Personally I have it installed and I'm even using the real-time protection. Whatsmore none of my other scanners have found anything suspicious with MSAS those would be Ad-Aware, ClamWin Free Antivirus, eTrust EZ Antivirus, Ewido, and Spybot S&D.

You've changed your mind a fair bit. As it is a new version, I might give it a new spin and see what it's like, as Turan pointed out Ad-Aware has done dealings in the past with Spyware companys.

Pretty much all anti-spyware companies do.

This new MSAS was also posted under the Sony Rootkit thread too a day or two ago.

Which is a shame, but then again with a variety of different scanners as Tarun pointed out, everyone should be fine. I still won't use it for real scanning, Arovax does so much more.

Yes I have.

However, MSAS ranks like ZoneAlarm on my system meaning it's on a fine edge between staying on my system and being uninstalled. If it's annoying restart/shutdown/logoff issues happen too much it will be uninstalled.

MSAS causes quite a slowdown on my system, no restart/shutdown/logoff
issues, but I have decided to uninstall it. Besides, it has never detected a
thing on my system but Adaware and Spybot have. And I don't mean cookies
either. Would Arovax be a good replacement?

If you're talking about their antispyware I don't know, it's still rather new however it will probably improve given some time. I'll probably try it again sometime next year.

It depends. If you're on about the actual scanner, maybe not, leave it for a bit. But if its the shield, I think the opposite. It has stopped so much spyware entering my PC its amazing, and when I use my on-demand scanners little is found now, its a great program, well worth getting.
