I frequently recommend the use of:

Adaware
MSAntispyware
Spybot
Ewido
spyware blaster
AVG or Avast.

Disk Cleaner:
CCleaner

Registry Cleaner:
Registry First Aid

All the programns are either freeware or fully registered.

I always use

AntiVirus : CA.eTrust.EZ.AntiVirus2005 v7.0.7.7
AntiSpyware : eTrust.PestPatrol v5.0.1.6 (r5)
Cookies Delete : History Sweeper v2.60
Adwares : Ad-Aware SE Professional 1.06 (r1)
Registry : Registry Mechanic v5.0.0.144
Bug Fixed : PC BugDoctor v3.0.2.3
Firewall : Microsoft Windows Firewall (SP2)

I never be in problems at all when using all of the above programs for a long time even I surf on underground sites!
