Hello

Defraggler is a goof software ... but ....

It causes a problem when defragmenting the file asrm.bin of ACRONIS campany, and should not be defragmented.
Defragmenting the file asrm.bin cause a problem that prevents ACRONIS make backups properly, and they become invalid.

It need this file is not defragmenting with Defraggler.

See the post on the forum ACRONIS: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4557

Thank you for making this correction to improve Defraggler and make it more user friendly.

Sincere greetings and good luck for your work.

Patbor

Hi Patbor, and welcome to Piriform.

Thanks for the information. For the time being, you could "Exclude" that file from being defragmented if doing so is causing a problem:

Hope that may help.

It is a problem for all users of Acronis and it must not remove the problem of credibility Defraggler.
It must automatically file asrm.bin not be defragmented.

It is not Defraggler's job to be aware of every file created by other software that is sensitive to defragmenation.

It is an issue with Acronis, not Defraggler. You have the option to exclude the file from Defraggler run for just this sort of scenario.

If this file was so important to Acronis then it's "their responsibility" to lock it and prevent access by any defragging tool not just Defraggler.

They do lock it, at least in the current version of their programs.

I think asrm.bin is Acronis Stratup Recovery Manager. It let's the user boot into recovery mode without use of a recovery CD or USB stick. If you defrag it while the system partition is offline, you just need to De- and Reactivate it from Acronis Tools menu.

I understand that it is possible to make oneself excluding asrm.bin for that file is not defragmentednad it is good.

But for users who don't now that it is not possibleto defragment asrm.bin, it is a big problem.

If Defraggler takes into account the exclusion automatically, it is good to the public will enjoy. As Defraggler does not défragemente all system files ...

Acronis is one of the largest developers for the restoration of data, so it is widely used, and this would be a shame that people believe that the problem is only related to Defraggler.
