As a new user, I would like advice on which boxes should be checked (or unchecked) under WINDOWS and APPLICATIONS. Are the default settings as downloaded optimum, or should I make changes?

If you are referring to CCleaner, just leave the settings at default for now until you are more comfortable with the program.

I am IMPRESSED in this world of no instructions to have a complete set of instructions available to read and use.
