help with ccleaner

hi trying to run on vista, but it stops on c:\users\?????\appdata\microsoft\windows\history\low\history.ie5\index.dat have cleared all the index.dat files i can find but it still stops there
help please

Hi cheffie9, and welcome to the forum.

That happened on my nieces Vista laptop and the computer froze.
I think she was using CCleaner version 2.261050.
When I updated to the latest version the problem was corrected.
Maybe a coincidence, or there was a conflict with something.

Have checked the update and it says im using the most recent download

Have you been able to use CCleaner successfully and this is a new problem?

Or, this is the first time you've used it on this system.

Try deleting history from within Internet Explorer then run CCleaner again.

hi have been using it for a while and its been doing this for a couple of weeks, but i thought id try everything else and didnt realise this forum was here . i am using v2.28.1091 have tried that even unticked index.dat files box and its still doing it. Have searched for all index.dat files on conp and tried to delete them but it says they cannot be found. so am really stuck now

Open Internet Explorer and delete history then close IE and run CCleaner.
