used CCleaner and now WMP doesn't work, Help? Options

I recently used CCleaner and now WMP doesn't work

I used the registry and did not save back up.

Please help me figure out how to fix wmp. Its been days.

When you say it you still have the same problem, do you mean you downloaded WMP and installed it, you used it and it worked, then you ran ccleaner and it stopped working?

What operating system?

Are you admin?

What is the exact problem WMP has?
What does it or doesn't it do?
Do you get an error message?
What is the error message, if there is one?

Okay! Well I am admin on this computer and I am running XP.

This is what happens. I open WMP, click on a song, then a "red x" appears next to the song, then it files downwards automatically trying every song until and error message appears.

the exact error is "C00D11BA"

I googled around for help at first and found many people talking about the same thing. But there was never any real answers found. (questions on answer sites left unanswered )

ALSO to answer any other questions you might have, I run a usb mixer for the inputs and outputs. Everything has always worked and still does except WMP. Online music, and other programs playing sound files still work fine. But after I used CCleaner this happened.

Have a try with the suggestions posted, but before you do that try something simpler. Usually, and I've experienced this myself, if Windows Media Player systematically goes through an entire album, and shows a red x for every song, then it's possibly because it can't find them anymore.

Either they've been moved, the album name changed etc.

You can try this by opening an album and then right click on one of the tracks that won't play, and select "Open File Location".

If it finds it OK, then it's something else causing the problem. You could make sure it's not a file association problem by opening "Tools\Options\File Types" and click the "Select All" button. If you have other players as default, you can reset the default file association later.

If that still makes no difference, then have a look to the suggestions at the above link.
